Netflix’s “Inside the Circle,” originally titled “El circulo,” builds its political conspiracy around a friendship that is supposed to be stronger than any secret. Ashley Quai’s first RHOSLC cast trip was already turning uncomfortable before Angie Katsanevas arrived armed with individually wrapped toothbrushes. The strange prop was aimed at a story Whitney Rose had privately shared about the Season 7 newcomer, and Angie was more than willing to make it public. Rather than deny it, Quai confirmed that she…
Fox’s “The Floor” Season 6 has quickly established that being a champion outside the game does not guarantee a long stay once the clock starts running. By the end of…
Mike Flanagan’s “Carrie” brings Stephen King’s most famous teenage outsider into a world of smartphones, viral humiliation and social media, but the emotional foundation of the story predates both the Prime Video series and Brian De Palma’s celebrated 1976 film. Summer H. Howell’s Carrie White remains a fictional teenager with an impossible ability, and there…
Netflix’s Who Is Martin Mull? spends much of its time revealing the creative life that existed behind Martin Mull’s familiar television persona, particularly his lifelong devotion to painting. The documentary also brings renewed attention to the family that knew a different version of the comedian, actor, musician and artist away from the screen. At the…
Less of a Stranger spends much of its story showing Jan Borysewicz fighting anyone who attempts to decide what his life should look like. Less of a Stranger ends at a point when Jan Borysewicz appears to be rebuilding both himself and Lady Pank after one of the most turbulent periods of his career. For viewers discovering the guitarist through Netflix, that conclusion naturally creates another question: what happened to him after the events shown in the movie? Borysewicz…
