There are few names more closely associated with Halloween entertainment than Cassandra Peterson, the actress who made Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, an enduring figure in popular culture. Her appearance in Tubi’s “R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead 2” brings that history into a different kind of supernatural story, one centered on young characters confronting the unsettling traditions…
American Horror Story has always enjoyed introducing new characters beside familiar faces, and Season 13 is taking that idea considerably further. The new installment brings back characters from Murder House, Coven, Hotel, Cult and other chapters while building its central story around newcomer Ben DeSoto. Standing close to Ben at the beginning of that story…
American Horror Story: 13 may be bringing back an unusually large collection of familiar faces, but the new season is not being built entirely around nostalgia. While Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Emma Roberts and several other franchise veterans are revisiting characters from earlier installments, the person positioned at the center of the new…
“NCIS: New York” may bring LL COOL J’s Sam Hanna back to familiar franchise territory, but CBS has surrounded him with an entirely new group of agents for his latest chapter. The most important newcomer is Nick Schaeffer, played by Scott Caan, who quickly becomes much more than the local agent assigned to help Sam…
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 18 reaches unusually far back into the show’s history when Mac, Dennis and Charlie become obsessed with a man they have not properly hung out with in years. NBC’s Line of Fire initially presents the Hollingsworths as a complicated but recognizable family whose members happen to work across the Secret Service, FBI, U.S. Marshals and Department of Justice. The premiere then reveals that someone important has been missing from that family portrait. Jack Hollingsworth, played by Charlie Barnett, is Mike’s son from another…
Guillermo del Toro’s bizarre appearance in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 18 Episode 5 is not a random celebrity cameo created for the Renaissance Faire. He is reprising the role of Pappy McPoyle, the eccentric patriarch of the enormous McPoyle clan who first appeared more than a decade earlier. Pappy has been connected to…
The Gilded Age Season 4 is bringing several new faces into its already sprawling New York society, but Adrienne Warren’s arrival is particularly interesting because her character is tied directly to Peggy Scott. Warren will play Ava, a previously unseen member of Peggy’s family who enters the story as Peggy’s relationship with Dr. William Kirkland…

That makes him feel like one of the movie’s most obviously biographical characters. Chef does have a real-life foundation, but…
Why Did I Get Married Again? does more than reunite Tyler Perry’s familiar group of friends. The Netflix sequel also introduces their grown children, turning the third movie into something of a generational handoff. Angela and Marcus’ daughter Jasmine is preparing to marry Wesley, and their Lake Como wedding brings the original circle back together…
2 Hearts begins as two romances that seem to have very little to do with each other. College freshman Chris Gregory falls for fellow student Sam, while years earlier Jorge, a man who has lived with serious lung disease since childhood, meets flight attendant Leslie. The connection between those couples eventually turns the film from…

The new season, released on Netflix on August 6,…
