Not a Stranger 1

Netflix’s Turkish psychological drama Not a Stranger ends its first season without resolving the conflict between Funda and Nazlı, making a second season an obvious question after the eight-episode debut. Funda finally begins recovering after weeks of confusion and emotional instability, but she still does not know the most important truth about what was happening inside her own home. Nazlı, meanwhile, remains close to İlker and Mavi even after Kemal discovers much of what she has been hiding.

That open ending gives Not a Stranger plenty of material for another season, but viewers should not mistake the finale’s unresolved story for an official renewal. Netflix released Season 1 on September 17, 2026, and the streamer has not yet announced whether the series will return for Season 2. Netflix’s official page currently lists only the first season and its eight episodes.

Has Netflix Renewed Not a Stranger for Season 2?

As of September 18, 2026, Netflix has not announced Not a Stranger Season 2. That is not particularly surprising because the first season has only just arrived, leaving very little time for Netflix to assess how audiences respond to the series.

Netflix’s official material continues to present Not a Stranger as a new 2026 drama starring Elçin Sangu, Melis Sezen and Ozan Dolunay, with Tuğba Doğan credited as its creator. There is currently no Season 2 announcement, production notice or release date on Netflix’s official pages.

The absence of an immediate renewal also does not mean the series has been cancelled. At this stage, its status is simply undecided publicly. Netflix will have the opportunity to evaluate the show’s performance after viewers have had time to discover and complete the first season.

Does the Season 1 Ending Set Up Another Season?

Very clearly. Although Season 1 answers the central mystery surrounding Nazlı’s behavior, it stops before Funda herself discovers the whole truth.

Funda enters treatment believing that her own mental and emotional state has become the main problem. Once she is away from the household, however, she improves surprisingly quickly. The audience eventually learns why that recovery matters because Kemal discovers that Nazlı had secretly been interfering with Funda’s drinks and contributing to the confusing symptoms that made Funda question herself.

By the finale, Kemal understands much of what Nazlı has been doing, but Funda does not. That creates an immediate storyline for a second season because Funda could return home believing the worst period of her life is behind her while Nazlı remains connected to the same family.

The ending therefore feels less like the conclusion of Nazlı’s story and more like the end of its first stage. Season 1 was largely about discovering who Nazlı really is. A potential Season 2 could instead be about what happens once Funda begins discovering the truth for herself.

What Could Happen to Funda in Season 2?

Funda’s recovery would probably become one of the most important parts of a continuation. She has started feeling like herself again, but she does not yet understand why her condition improved so rapidly after leaving home.

Returning to İlker and Mavi could eventually force her to reconsider events she previously blamed on herself. The missing memories, unexplained physical symptoms and unusual behavior surrounding Nazlı may begin to look very different once Funda has enough distance to examine them clearly.

There is also the question of whether Funda will trust Kemal if he tells her what he discovered. Kemal has information that could completely change how she views Nazlı, but his own feelings for Funda complicate his position. If she learns that he confronted Nazlı without immediately telling her, she could have just as many questions for him as she does for Nazlı.

A second season would therefore not need to repeat Funda’s Season 1 storyline. Instead of questioning her own perception, she could become the person actively investigating what happened to her.

Could Kemal Expose Nazlı?

Kemal may be the character with the most important decision to make if the story continues. He discovers Nazlı’s nursing history, realizes what she has been doing to Funda and confronts her directly, giving him enough information to seriously disrupt her place within the family.

Nazlı responds by identifying Kemal’s weakness. She knows he still cares about Funda and suggests that the breakdown of Funda’s marriage could eventually give him another opportunity with her. The finale never clearly establishes that Kemal accepts that proposition, but it also does not show him immediately exposing Nazlı.

That unresolved choice could become crucial in Season 2. Kemal can protect Funda by revealing what he knows, or his hesitation could allow Nazlı more time to strengthen her connection to İlker and Mavi. Either way, keeping the secret indefinitely would become increasingly difficult once Funda returns.

What Would Nazlı Want in Season 2?

The finale finally explains that Nazlı does not simply want İlker. She wants the entire family life she believes should have belonged to her.

Her earlier encounter with İlker, her history of personal loss and her attachment to Mavi have combined into the belief that Funda is living the future Nazlı deserved. By the end of Season 1, Nazlı refers to the family and happiness around her as something that should have been hers from the beginning.

That makes her next move difficult to predict. Funda’s return would threaten the position Nazlı has built during the weeks she was away, while Kemal now knows enough about her past to become a serious problem.

Season 2 could therefore reverse the dynamic of the first season. Nazlı spent much of Season 1 operating without anyone understanding her real intentions. She would enter a continuation knowing that at least one person can expose her and that Funda is becoming healthier rather than more dependent.

Would Elçin Sangu and Melis Sezen Return?

There has been no Season 2 casting announcement because the series itself has not yet been renewed. However, any direct continuation of the current story would naturally require Elçin Sangu as Funda and Melis Sezen as Nazlı, whose conflict drives the series.

Ozan Dolunay would also be central as İlker, particularly because he still does not understand the full history behind Nazlı’s presence in his family. Cemal Hünal’s Kemal would likely remain important as well, given that he ends Season 1 holding information that could expose Nazlı.

Netflix officially lists Sangu, Sezen and Dolunay as the show’s principal stars, alongside Cemal Hünal, Efe Taşdelen, Murat Garipağaoğlu, Mine Teber, Nergis Öztürk, Arbil Tabur and Esra Şahin.

When Could Not a Stranger Season 2 Be Released?

There is currently no official release date because Netflix has not ordered Season 2. Any specific premiere date circulating at this stage should therefore be treated as speculation.

If Netflix does renew the series, more information about writing, filming and returning cast members would need to emerge before a meaningful release window could be estimated. For now, the most important development to watch for is the renewal itself rather than a possible premiere date.

The first season was released worldwide on Netflix on September 17, 2026, as an eight-episode Turkish drama.

What Could Not a Stranger Season 2 Be About?

The strongest continuation would begin with Funda returning to the family she believes she nearly lost. Her recovery has already changed the balance between the characters, but she remains unaware that Nazlı played a major role in creating the situation that pushed her away from home.

Kemal’s knowledge could become the trigger that finally exposes the truth, while Nazlı would have to protect the place she has built beside Mavi and İlker. İlker would also be forced to reconsider his own past with Nazlı once he understands that their brief encounter carried far more significance for her than he realized.

Season 1 ultimately ends with an advantage for both women in different ways. Nazlı remains close to the family she wants, but Funda has begun recovering and reclaiming control of her life. If Netflix orders Not a Stranger Season 2, that unresolved collision between them gives the series a clear story to continue without needing to invent an entirely new mystery.
