Stop! That! Train! Cast and Cameo Guide: Every Drag Race Queen and Celebrity Appearance

Stop! That! Train! is built around Ginger Minj and Jujubee, but viewers barely have time to recognize one familiar face before another appears. Adam Shankman’s disaster comedy brings together a sizeable group of RuPaul’s Drag Race alumni while also filling the Glamazonian Express with actors, comedians, reality personalities and television stars in intentionally exaggerated supporting roles.

Some of these performers have major parts in the story, while others appear only long enough to deliver a joke. Here is a guide to the Drag Race stars and recognizable celebrity faces aboard and around the Glamazonian Express.

Ginger Minj and Jujubee Play Tess and DeeDee

Ginger Minj plays Tess, while Jujubee plays her longtime best friend DeeDee. They are not cameos but the two leads around whom the entire story is built.

Tess and DeeDee begin as attendants on Stank Rail before sneaking aboard the glamorous Glamazonian Express. Their friendship becomes the emotional center of the film once Tess begins enjoying the approval of the first-class crew and DeeDee feels increasingly left behind. ABC noted that director Adam Shankman deliberately asked the pair to play their characters more grounded than the exaggerated personalities surrounding them.

RuPaul Plays President Judy Gagwell

RuPaul appears as President Judy Gagwell, the movie’s fictional President of the United States.

Gagwell initially deals with the runaway train from the political side of the crisis, but her own history with rail travel eventually pulls her directly into Tess and DeeDee’s attempt to save the Glamazonian Express. RuPaul is also one of the film’s producers.

Brooke Lynn Hytes, Symone and Marcia Marcia Marcia Are the Glamazonian Attendants

Brooke Lynn Hytes plays Amber, the most prominent member of the snobbish first-class Glamazonian crew. Amber initially represents everything Tess wants to become, although their relationship changes once Tess and DeeDee’s real Stank Rail background is exposed.

Symone plays Ayshleiygh, another member of the first-class crew, while Marcia Marcia Marcia, credited as Marty Lauter, plays Alli. Together, the trio provide the glamorous opposition to Tess and DeeDee during the early part of the journey.

Latrice Royale Plays Barbra

Latrice Royale gets one of the movie’s most memorable running jokes as Barbra. Barbra repeatedly appears in completely different occupations throughout the story, leaving Tess and DeeDee increasingly confused about what she actually does for a living. The gag becomes surprisingly important to the ending when Barbra turns out to be the person who rescues Cal after his fall from the train.

Her explanation is essentially that she does many things but never stays anything for very long, allowing the movie to turn her seemingly random appearances into a payoff during the finale.

Monét X Change Appears as the Protester

Monét X Change has a smaller appearance as a protester rather than one of the central Glamazonian attendants.

Her role is much shorter than those of Ginger Minj, Jujubee, Brooke Lynn Hytes or Latrice Royale, which can make the appearance easy to miss among the movie’s rapid collection of jokes and guest stars.

Angeria Paris VanMicheals Plays Amelia

Angeria Paris VanMicheals also appears in Stop! That! Train! as Amelia.

Her inclusion is sometimes missing from the shorter promotional cast lists, but the complete credited cast includes Angeria alongside the other Drag Race alumni featured in the film.

Michelle Visage Appears as a Reporter

Michelle Visage also joins the extended Drag Race family represented in the movie. Rather than playing a train employee, Visage appears as Reporter 1, one of several media figures following the increasingly chaotic situation surrounding the Glamazonian Express.

Sarah Michelle Gellar Plays the Famous Actress

One of the easiest celebrity appearances to recognize is Sarah Michelle Gellar, who is credited simply as the Famous Actress.

The deliberately generic character name fits the movie’s style, in which many of the celebrity passengers are exaggerated types rather than deeply developed characters. The Guardian specifically highlighted Gellar among the recognizable passengers filling out the train’s comedy ensemble.

Nicole Richie, Lisa Rinna and Raven-Symoné Also Appear

Nicole Richie plays a character credited as the Workaholic, while Lisa Rinna appears as the Sceney Celebrity. Both fit comfortably into the exaggerated collection of personalities traveling aboard or surrounding the Glamazonian Express.

Raven-Symoné appears near the Florida side of the story as reporter Shayna Gefilte-Manischevitz, who covers Tess and DeeDee’s arrival in Celebration after the runaway train is finally brought under control.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Missi Pyle and Jerry O’Connell Are Among the Passengers

Jesse Tyler Ferguson appears as a character simply credited as the Business Person, while Missi Pyle plays the movie’s Horny Divorcee. Jerry O’Connell appears as the Bickering Husband, paired with Nicole Sullivan as the Bickering Wife.

June Diane Raphael plays the Chic Woman, Paul Scheer is Male Passenger 1, and Joel McHale appears as Male Passenger 2. These characters help fill the Glamazonian Express with the sort of broad passenger stereotypes associated with the disaster spoofs that inspired the film.

Brian Jordan Alvarez Plays Cal

Brian Jordan Alvarez has a larger role than most of the celebrity guests as Cal, the Glamazonian Express co-conductor and DeeDee’s love interest.

ABC describes Cal as the train’s attractive conductor and the center of DeeDee’s romantic storyline. He eventually becomes important to the survival plot when he volunteers to go outside the runaway train and attempt to reach its emergency brake.

His apparent fall becomes one of the movie’s biggest late-story fake-outs, although the ending reveals that he survived.

Rachel Bloom Plays Donna Dusk

Rachel Bloom plays Donna Dusk, another supporting character with a substantial role rather than a simple cameo.

Donna works at train control and recognizes the danger posed by the Stormaganza before most of the people around her take it seriously. She remains involved in guiding Tess, DeeDee and the Glamazonian crew once the train loses its brakes.

Chris Parnell, Guy Branum and Charo Join the Railroad Crew

Chris Parnell plays Conductor Davenport, the senior conductor aboard the Glamazonian Express, while Guy Branum appears as a Train Traffic Controller.

Charo makes one of the movie’s most knowingly outrageous guest appearances as the Sexy Traffic Controller. Like many of the smaller roles, the character exists primarily to escalate the movie’s rapid-fire parody style.

Matt Rogers, Riki Lindhome and Jai Rodriguez Appear Around the Political and Media Story

Matt Rogers plays President Gagwell’s Press Secretary, placing him alongside RuPaul during the political response to the runaway train.
