Netflix’s Crew Girl builds one of its biggest personal conflicts around the two very different boys who enter Teagan Tao’s life at Easton Prep. Josh Regis is wealthy, confident and accustomed to being the center of the rowing program, while Cam Dillinger is the overlooked underdog who has had to fight for virtually every opportunity…
Netflix’s Crew Girl sends Teagan Tao into an entirely new life before she even gets the chance to settle into the story’s rowing drama. When the series begins, Teagan is a talented young single-sculls rower living comfortably in California with her parents, Ella and David Tao. Within a matter of days, her father disappears, federal…
Tubi’s thriller ‘The Delivery Girl’ turns an ordinary food delivery into the beginning of a dangerous obsession. Directed by Shiek Mahmud-Bey, the movie follows an insurance adjuster whose otherwise routine life begins falling apart after a delivery worker becomes fixated on him. Although the story centers on an increasingly threatening relationship, the production keeps its…
‘The Delivery Girl’ is built around a small ensemble rather than a crowded list of characters. The Tubi thriller follows an insurance adjuster whose quiet life becomes increasingly dangerous when a food delivery worker develops an obsession with him. Charlie Newhart, Teisha Brown, Ayla Thompson, Mic Larry and Brittnee Stephenson lead the cast, while Andrew…
Netflix’s The Perfect Lie introduces viewers to a wealthy social circle that initially appears comfortable, polished and unusually close. Karen and her husband Michel move to Bergen and are welcomed into the Dinner Club, where several couples have years of shared history that the newcomers know almost nothing about. The atmosphere changes after a late-night…
Netflix’s ‘Crew Girl’ builds its teen drama around one newcomer stepping into a boat full of boys who have very little interest in being led by her. Miku Martineau stars as Teagan Tao, a gifted 16-year-old rower whose life in California collapses after a scandal involving her family. Teagan and her mother relocate to the…
‘Crew Girl’ may send Teagan Tao to an elite school on America’s East Coast, but the lakes, castle and waterfront town surrounding Easton Prep are actually thousands of miles away. Netflix filmed the first season primarily around Greater Victoria on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada, with Victoria, Colwood, Sidney and nearby communities standing in…
DC Studios’ ‘Supergirl’ spends much of its running time sending Kara Zor-El (Milly Alcock) and Ruthye Marye Knoll (Eve Ridley) across planets that look far removed from anything on Earth. In reality, the production created those worlds using a combination of Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in Hertfordshire, the Scottish Highlands, and Iceland, with additional production…
Taylor Frankie Paul returned to ‘The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ with a spoiler from a season of television viewers may never get to watch: she left ‘The Bachelorette’ engaged. The man widely identified as her final choice is Doug Mason, a California lifeguard and surfer who proposed during filming. Season 5 confirms that Taylor…
‘The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ Season 5 does not finish by repairing MomTok. It does almost the opposite. By the time the women gather at Jessi Draper’s housewarming party in “The Book of Destruction,” several friendships have reached the point where old arguments can no longer be dismissed as ordinary group drama. Jessi is…
Call My Agent! The Movie is less a reboot than a reunion. The ASK office may be gone, but the relationships that made the original French series work have survived, even as its former agents have moved into very different corners of the entertainment business. Camille Cottin, Laure Calamy, Thibault de Montalembert, Gregory Montel, Nicolas…
Few television shows have used Paris quite as effectively as Call My Agent!, where elegant offices, restaurants, premieres and hurried conversations on city streets made the French capital inseparable from the story. Call My Agent! The Movie keeps that relationship intact, but the feature-length continuation also gives the characters more room to move beyond their…
