Yes, Vigil Season 3 strongly indicates that Amy Silva and Kirsten Longacre are now married. The series does not give viewers a wedding flashback or a lengthy explanation of when it happened, but the couple are shown wearing wedding rings after the time jump and are now raising their family together.

Season 3 also brings a major addition to the Silva-Longacre household: their young son Fergal. Together with Poppy, he completes a family that has been developing since the first season. Current coverage of the new season has also described Amy and Kirsten as happily married.

Did Amy and Kirsten Get Married Before Season 3?

The actual wedding has not been shown. Instead, Vigil allows viewers to work out what has changed during the gap between Seasons 2 and 3.

When Amy and Kirsten appear at home in the Season 3 premiere, both are seen wearing rings. The domestic setup also makes clear that their relationship has progressed significantly: they share a home with Poppy and Fergal and behave as an established family rather than a couple still deciding what their future looks like.

So while the series has not yet stopped to explain when or where the ceremony happened, the visual clues indicate that Amy and Kirsten married sometime between Seasons 2 and 3.

How Did Amy and Kirsten’s Relationship Begin?

Amy and Kirsten have one of Vigil’s longest-running personal storylines. Season 1 begins with them separated after an earlier relationship. Flashbacks gradually explain how they became involved while working together and why Amy’s emotional difficulties made the relationship complicated. Their feelings never completely disappear.

By the end of the submarine investigation, Amy and Kirsten decide to give the relationship another chance. That reunion sets up the much more settled version of the couple seen in Season 2.

Their story therefore runs alongside Vigil’s rotating investigations even though each season moves into a completely different military and political world.

What Happened Between Amy and Kirsten in Season 2?

Season 2 establishes that Amy and Kirsten are no longer simply trying to make the relationship work. They have built a family.

Suranne Jones explained at the time that Poppy was living with them and that Kirsten was pregnant. Rose Leslie similarly described Amy and Kirsten as committed to raising Poppy and their new child together as one family unit.

The Season 2 finale leaves Kirsten and the unborn baby safe after the dangerous events of the investigation. Amy later tells Kirsten she is coming home, ending the season with their family intact.

Season 3 picks up after another jump forward, meaning the baby Kirsten was expecting has now been born.

Who Is Fergal in Vigil Season 3?

Fergal is Amy and Kirsten’s young son. The Season 3 premiere introduces him at their Glasgow home, where Amy and Kirsten are shown parenting him together. Poppy also helps look after him, immediately establishing the four of them as a family.

Kirsten has spent roughly a year away from work after becoming a mother. Episode 4 makes this particularly important when she admits how frightening it was to return to policing after a year focused on motherhood. She needed to prove that she could still be the detective she was before having a child.

Amy reveals an insecurity of her own during the same conversation. She worries that Fergal sees Kirsten as his primary parent and says she does not want him to view her as the “spare one.”

It gives Season 3’s relationship conflict more depth than a simple disagreement about work.

Is Poppy Amy and Kirsten’s Daughter?

Poppy was originally part of Amy’s family before Amy and Kirsten built a life together. Amy raised Poppy after the death of Poppy’s father, Iain, in the car accident that became an important part of Amy’s Season 1 backstory. The first season also showed Amy considering her responsibilities toward Poppy while struggling with trauma from the accident.

By Season 2, however, Poppy is clearly part of Amy and Kirsten’s shared household. Jones described her as living with the couple while they prepared for Kirsten’s baby.

Season 3 pushes that relationship even further. When Amy tells Poppy about the trouble in Svalbard, Poppy asks whether “Mum” is all right, referring to Kirsten.

That small moment tells viewers almost everything they need to know about how firmly Kirsten has become part of Poppy’s family.

Are Amy and Kirsten Still Together in Season 3?

Yes, although Season 3 deliberately puts pressure on their marriage. Kirsten’s first major investigation after maternity leave sends her to Svalbard, where she is determined to prove that becoming a mother has not diminished her professionally. Rose Leslie has said that Kirsten wants to show both herself and Amy that she remains the detective she was before motherhood.

Amy’s instinct is to protect her, but that becomes part of the problem. When Amy accepts a role that effectively places her above Kirsten in the investigation without telling her first, Kirsten sees it as evidence that Amy does not trust her abilities.

Their Episode 4 argument finally exposes the problem on both sides. Kirsten feels Amy keeps stepping in to save her, while Amy admits she sometimes feels insecure about her place within their family.

Neither woman wants to leave the relationship. They are struggling with how to balance marriage, parenthood and two demanding police careers.

What Is Amy and Kirsten’s Relationship Status Now?

As of Vigil Season 3 Episode 4, Amy and Kirsten remain together. The season presents them as a married couple raising Poppy and Fergal, but it also gives them a new problem to navigate. Kirsten wants independence after returning from maternity leave, while Amy has to learn that protecting her partner is not the same thing as trusting her.

That makes their Season 3 story less about whether Amy and Kirsten love each other and more about how their relationship changes once they have everything they spent the earlier seasons building: a home, children and a life together.
