“90 Day Fiance: The Other Way” Season 8 opens with the kind of uncertainty that has always powered the franchise: couples making life-changing moves before they have resolved some of the biggest questions in their relationships. Episode 1, titled “Love, Lies, and La Dolce Vita,” introduces several new international romances while also bringing Niles and Matilda back after their earlier journey. Jessy prepares for a new life in Italy, Jon moves to Singapore to be with a pregnant Ally, and Niles arrives in Ghana carrying a major surprise for his wife. However, Andi and Nigel’s story becomes one of the premiere’s most uneasy situations as Andi begins questioning her move to Australia only hours before she is supposed to leave.
Andi Is Leaving Nashville for Nigel
Andi Jane has spent years building a life around music in Nashville, and her career finally appears to be gaining momentum just as she prepares to walk away from it. She performs with a bluegrass band, has released music, and believes she is beginning to see the results of years of persistence. Moving to Australia therefore means much more than changing addresses. Andi will be leaving her family, professional network and the career she has worked hard to establish so that she can find out whether her relationship with Nigel can survive everyday life.
Her romance with Nigel began in unusually fitting circumstances. Andi recalls once being told by a psychic that she would meet a foreign soulmate connected to a beach, a prediction she did not initially take seriously. She later connected with Australian Nigel, and their relationship quickly developed after he invited her to meet him in Mexico. Their connection convinced Andi that there might be something special about the prediction after all, but the Season 8 premiere shows that believing someone is your soulmate does not remove the practical problems surrounding a relationship.

Andi’s Family Has Concerns About Nigel
Andi’s family is not entirely comfortable with her decision to move across the world, and one of their biggest concerns involves a financial commitment she previously made with Nigel. During an earlier trip to Mexico, the couple attended a timeshare presentation and agreed to make a purchase. Because Nigel did not have a credit card available for the transaction, the payments were placed on Andi’s card. Nigel later decided he did not want to continue with the arrangement, leaving Andi dealing with an obligation that her family says amounts to roughly $10,000.
The timeshare becomes more than an argument about money because it raises questions about how Nigel approaches shared responsibilities. Andi is now preparing to make the far larger sacrifice by leaving the United States and starting again in Australia, while her family remembers a situation in which she was left handling the consequences of a joint decision. Her mother worries that Andi has a tendency to focus on the best qualities in someone even when there are reasons to be more cautious. Those concerns begin weighing more heavily on Andi as her departure gets closer.
Nigel’s Other Relationship Changes Everything
The biggest problem emerges from Andi and Nigel’s non-monogamous relationship. Andi has never presented their arrangement as completely traditional, and she accepts that both of them can have experiences with other people. Her understanding, however, appears to be that those encounters remain casual and do not develop into additional serious relationships. Nigel’s recent behavior makes her wonder whether he sees those boundaries differently.
Nigel tells Andi that he plans to attend a festival and spend the weekend camping with another woman. He has already arranged the trip and bought the woman’s ticket, which immediately makes the situation feel more significant to Andi than a casual encounter. She tells Nigel that she is uncomfortable because the plans resemble something a boyfriend would organize with a girlfriend. Nigel eventually agrees not to go camping with the woman, apparently resolving the immediate disagreement.
That reassurance does not last long. Nigel later tells Andi that he spent Saturday night with another lover anyway, and Andi realizes that it was the same woman he had planned to take to the festival. The revelation changes how she sees the situation because this is no longer simply about the rules of an open relationship. Andi begins wondering whether Nigel is forming a continuing emotional connection with someone else just as she is preparing to move across the world to make him her primary partner.
Why Is Andi Having Doubts About Moving to Australia?
Andi’s doubts about Australia come from several problems arriving at once, but Nigel’s relationship with the other woman becomes the immediate trigger. She is not suddenly rejecting non-monogamy or pretending that she never agreed to their arrangement. Instead, she questions whether Nigel is operating within the kind of relationship they originally discussed. For Andi, casual encounters and a recurring romantic partner are two very different things.
The timing makes the situation even more difficult. Andi is about to leave a music career that is finally progressing, move far away from her family and rebuild her daily life around Nigel. She expects that living together will naturally make their partnership the center of both of their lives, but Episode 1 reveals that the two may not have clearly discussed what happens to their non-monogamous arrangement once she arrives. Andi seems to be moving toward greater exclusivity while Nigel may still believe that their previous rules remain unchanged.
By moving day, Andi is no longer thinking only about the excitement of beginning a new life in Australia. She is questioning whether her belief that Nigel is her soulmate has made her ignore signs that they want different things. Music becomes an outlet as she processes the uncertainty through songwriting, but the underlying issue remains unresolved. With only hours before her flight, Andi seriously wonders whether getting on the plane is the right decision.
Jon Moves to Singapore for Ally
Jon and Ally begin Season 8 facing a very different international problem. Ally is six months pregnant, but her family does not yet know about the pregnancy, creating enormous pressure as Jon prepares to move to Singapore. The couple had hoped Ally could join him in the United States, but after difficulties with that plan, Jon decides that relocating to Singapore is the best way for them to be together before their baby’s arrival. His move also places him closer to a family whose approval he still needs to earn.
Ally comes from an Indian Muslim family and worries about how her parents will react when they discover she is pregnant before marriage. Jon has agreed to convert to Islam, but the religious and cultural adjustments are only part of the challenge awaiting him. Shortly after he arrives, Ally discovers that he has continued vaping despite previously giving her another impression. What appears to be a relatively small issue quickly becomes an argument about honesty, control and how much Jon feels he is already changing for their relationship.

Niles Has Not Told Matilda He Plans to Stay in Ghana
Niles and Matilda return to the franchise as a married couple, but their long-distance difficulties are far from finished. Niles had previously expected Matilda to eventually join him in the United States, yet the process has not unfolded the way they hoped. After spending roughly two years apart while trying to move their future forward, Niles decides that he has another solution. Instead of waiting indefinitely for Matilda to come to America, he plans to move to Ghana.
The problem is that Matilda does not know this is his plan. She believes Niles is arriving for what amounts to another visit, while he intends to tell her in person that he wants to remain in Ghana permanently. Niles appears to view the decision as proof of his commitment, but keeping such a major life choice from his wife could create a completely different reaction. Their storyline enters Season 8 with love intact but communication once again threatening to complicate what should be a happy reunion.
Jessy Starts a New Life With Vittorio in Italy
Jessy is preparing to leave the Bronx behind and move to Florence for Vittorio after their long-distance romance developed through travel and time spent together. The couple first connected around Miami Art Basel, and Vittorio eventually asked Jessy to move to Italy. Her friends remain skeptical about whether she knows him well enough to make such a dramatic change. Jessy nevertheless believes their connection is worth the risk and heads to Florence hoping the relationship will work outside the temporary excitement of vacations.
Vittorio describes himself as someone who has enjoyed the bachelor lifestyle, but he believes Jessy may be the person who finally makes him settle down. The premiere complicates that romantic idea when Vittorio reveals privately that there is something important Jessy does not know. Episode 1 does not explain exactly what he has been keeping from her, turning his secret into one of the premiere’s lingering questions. Jessy is therefore arriving in Italy believing she understands the relationship while viewers already know she may be missing an important piece of the story.
Episode 1 Sets Up a Season Built on Secrets
The Season 8 premiere repeatedly returns to couples making enormous commitments before having completely honest conversations. Ally’s parents do not know about her pregnancy, Matilda does not know Niles intends to remain in Ghana, Jessy is unaware of Vittorio’s secret, and Andi is discovering that she and Nigel may not agree on the boundaries of their relationship. Each situation involves different circumstances, but all four stories raise the same uncomfortable question about whether love can survive information arriving too late.
Andi’s storyline provides the sharpest example because she still has a chance to stop before making her move. Her doubts are not simply cold feet about leaving Nashville. Nigel’s continued involvement with the same woman forces Andi to question whether the relationship she is moving to Australia for actually matches the relationship Nigel believes they have. Episode 1 ends with that uncertainty hanging over her decision, giving Season 8 an early conflict that goes much deeper than the logistics of moving abroad.
