Why Is Nathan Gallagher Wanted in Australia and Ireland? Both Arrest Warrants Explained

Nathan Gallagher’s legal troubles have escalated considerably while he continues to appear on Below Deck Mediterranean. The bosun is now wanted under separate arrest warrants in Australia and Ireland, with the two cases stemming from completely unrelated incidents several years apart.

The most significant development came in Australia on September 1, 2026. Gallagher failed to appear at Burwood Local Court for a hearing involving former partner and Below Deck Med co-star Gael Cameron. The court went ahead without him, convicted Gallagher on three domestic violence offenses and issued a warrant for his arrest. Meanwhile, an older bench warrant remains active in his native Ireland over a separate alleged assault from 2022.

Why Is Nathan Gallagher Wanted in Australia?

Gallagher was due at Burwood Local Court in New South Wales on September 1 after previously pleading not guilty to three charges: assault occasioning actual bodily harm, intentionally choking a person without consent and common assault.

The charges arose from an incident at a residence in Melrose Park, Sydney, on December 26, 2025. Gallagher was arrested the following morning and later released on conditional bail as the case moved through the courts.

He did not appear for the September hearing. Information presented to the court indicated that Gallagher was overseas, and prosecutors asked the judge to deal with the matter in his absence.

Judge Janine Lacy subsequently found the three offenses proven, recorded convictions and issued an arrest warrant requiring Gallagher to be brought before the court.

New South Wales Police later made a public appeal seeking information about his whereabouts. Police said Gallagher was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant and was believed to be offshore, although authorities have not publicly confirmed exactly where he is.

What Happened With Gael Cameron’s Court Case?

Cameron attended Burwood Local Court on September 1 in connection with the case. She and Gallagher met while working together on Below Deck Mediterranean and later continued their relationship away from the show. They also share a son.

Alongside Gallagher’s criminal case, the court finalized a two-year Apprehended Violence Order involving Cameron. An AVO is a protective order under New South Wales law and is separate from the criminal convictions.

Gallagher had disputed the way the allegations were being portrayed before the September hearing. In comments made before his court date, he said the public had not heard the full account and claimed he possessed videos, messages and other material that provided additional context.

However, Gallagher was not present to contest the prosecution’s evidence at the September 1 hearing, and the court ultimately convicted him in his absence on all three charges.

Why Is Nathan Gallagher Also Wanted in Ireland?

Gallagher’s Australian case is not his only outstanding legal matter. A separate bench warrant was issued for him at Dungloe District Court in County Donegal, Ireland, on April 8, 2025 after he failed to appear before the court.

That case concerns an alleged incident much earlier, on August 7, 2022. Gallagher is accused of assaulting another man and causing him harm on Main Street in Dungloe.

Unlike the Australian case, Gallagher has not been convicted of the Irish assault charge. The allegation remains unresolved, and the bench warrant relates to his failure to appear in court to answer that charge.

Gallagher is originally from Burtonport in County Donegal, not far from Dungloe.

Are Nathan Gallagher’s Australia and Ireland Cases Connected?

No. The two cases are completely separate. The Irish case involves an alleged assault on a man in Dungloe in August 2022. The Australian case concerns the December 2025 domestic violence incident involving Cameron in Sydney.

The connection between them is Gallagher’s failure to appear in court. His April 2025 no-show resulted in the Irish bench warrant, while his absence from the September 1, 2026 hearing resulted in the Australian warrant.

That leaves Gallagher wanted under active warrants in two countries at the same time.

Where Is Nathan Gallagher Now?

Gallagher’s exact whereabouts have not been publicly confirmed.

NSW Police said in its September 1 appeal that he was believed to be “offshore.” The court had also been provided with information indicating that he was overseas when he failed to attend his hearing.

There has been speculation online about where Gallagher may have traveled, but no confirmed location has been released by authorities. Until police or Gallagher himself establishes his whereabouts, claims placing him in a particular country should be treated cautiously.

The Australian proceedings also remain unfinished despite his convictions. Gallagher has not yet completed the remaining court process arising from those convictions, which is one reason the arrest warrant is significant.

What Has Bravo Said About Nathan Gallagher?

Gallagher remains part of the currently airing Below Deck Mediterranean season because the episodes were filmed before the latest court developments. His future with the franchise, however, appears to be over.

Following the Australian warrant and convictions, Bravo confirmed that it does not plan to work with Gallagher in the future.

That means viewers may continue seeing Nathan during previously filmed Below Deck Med episodes even though the network has now distanced itself from him going forward.

For the moment, Gallagher’s situation involves two very different legal cases. In Australia, he has been convicted of three domestic violence offenses and is wanted after failing to attend court. In Ireland, he remains wanted under a bench warrant connected to a separate assault charge that has not yet been resolved.
