Captain Kerry Titheradge has a new bosun when Below Deck Season 13 begins in Phuket, and Alex Wright’s job quickly looks like one of the most important positions aboard Azul V. The London yachtie arrives with five years of experience, but Bravo’s early previews suggest that managing an experienced deck team may be more complicated than simply knowing how to run exterior operations.

Alex’s season is already being teased around two major relationships. His friendship with deckhand Jessenia Stidger crosses into romantic territory, while his working relationship with lead deckhand Matthew Fitzpatrick-Buck appears headed toward serious conflict. Captain Kerry, meanwhile, begins noticing small mistakes that may put Alex’s leadership under additional pressure.

Who Is Alex Wright?

Alex Wright is the bosun on Below Deck Season 13 and comes from London, England. Bravo lists his birthday as March 4 and says he has five years of experience in the yachting industry, although the network has not published his birth year or age.

Away from work, Alex enjoys kitesurfing, golf and traveling to new places. He also describes himself as someone who enjoys learning new hobbies and skills, which gives a little context to a yacht career built around adapting quickly to different boats and destinations.

As bosun, Alex is the senior exterior crew member directly beneath Captain Kerry. He is responsible for organizing the deck department, assigning work, coordinating guest activities and helping manage docking and exterior safety aboard Azul V.

Alex and Jessenia Are More Than Ordinary Crewmates

Bravo lists Jessenia as Alex’s best friend aboard Azul V, while Jessenia independently identifies Alex as her closest friend on the yacht. That mutual answer shows they already have an unusually close relationship before viewers even see their Season 13 story unfold.

The trailer takes that relationship further by showing Alex and Jessenia kissing. Alex quickly realizes the obvious complication: Jessenia is one of the deckhands he directly supervises. He acknowledges that crossing that line could create problems for the department.

Bravo has not confirmed whether Alex and Jessenia remain together after filming, so the pre-season evidence supports a Season 13 romance but not a current relationship status.

Alex Clashes With Lead Deckhand Matt

Romance is not Alex’s only concern. Bravo has already released a preview titled Lead Deckhand Matt Fitzpatrick-Buck Reaches a Breaking Point with Alex Wright, making their professional conflict one of the clearest storylines teased before the premiere.

Matt comes aboard with five years of yachting experience himself, meaning Alex is not managing an entirely inexperienced exterior crew. A lead deckhand with similar time in the industry can be valuable, but it can also create tension when the two men disagree about how the department should operate.

The wider Season 13 synopsis promises power struggles and large personalities on deck, eventually forcing Captain Kerry to make a major decision. Bravo has not revealed exactly who that decision concerns, so it would be premature to assume Alex loses his position.

Captain Kerry Questions Alex’s Leadership

The trailer puts Alex under additional pressure when Captain Kerry begins noticing what he calls small errors. One particularly serious tease has the yacht ending up dangerously close to shallow water, while Kerry says he wants Alex to succeed but keeps seeing mistakes.

That sets up Alex’s biggest Season 13 question. He arrives with enough professional experience to become bosun, but Below Deck often tests whether technically capable yachties can also manage personalities, pressure and responsibility in front of demanding guests.

With Matt challenging him professionally and Jessenia complicating matters personally, Alex’s leadership will be tested from more than one direction.
