The Drop: A Snowfall Saga Episode 2 pushes Wanda’s music ambitions into much more complicated territory as Black Banner tries to turn Artillery’s potential into a legitimate record deal. Lamar’s work with Artillery finally gives the label something valuable to build around, while Wanda earns a bigger role in the company and Macroscope’s interest makes the opportunity feel more serious than anything the group has handled before.

Signing Artillery, however, is not as simple as putting a contract in front of him. Dara believes she deserves recognition for supporting Artillery before Black Banner became interested, and Darryl’s attempt to handle that relationship creates an entirely new problem. Leon and Wanda eventually find a solution, but Darryl’s mysterious meeting at the end of the episode suggests that he is not completely prepared to trust the agreement.

Why Does Dara Turn the Meeting Against Darryl?

Darryl enters the meeting expecting to negotiate Artillery’s future, but Artillery refuses to move forward without Dara being involved. Dara explains that she supported him financially, helped with his music and remained beside him before Black Banner appeared, so she believes she deserves something if his career is about to become profitable.

She initially asks Darryl for $20,000 before increasing the amount to $30,000, but the money soon becomes only one part of the disagreement. Darryl treats Dara and the people around her as though their contribution no longer matters now that a legitimate label is interested, and that attitude turns what could have been a straightforward negotiation into something much more personal.

The meeting eventually ends with Darryl losing control of the situation and leaving deeply embarrassed by what happened. Leon later recognizes that this is the real problem, because Darryl is no longer thinking only about Artillery’s contract or the money Dara wants. He now views the encounter as a challenge to his authority and reputation, which makes it much harder for him to approach the situation like a businessman.

Why Does Darryl Blame Wanda?

Wanda brought Lamar and Artillery into Black Banner’s orbit, so Darryl initially assumes she must have known more about Dara’s involvement than she admitted. From his perspective, Wanda introduced an opportunity that placed him in a situation he did not fully understand, making her an easy person to blame when the meeting goes badly.

Wanda insists that she never intended to put Darryl in that position and had no plan to deceive him. Her interest in Artillery came from the record Lamar created with him, and she genuinely believes signing the rapper could become an important step for Black Banner.

Vance also tries to make Darryl think about the larger opportunity rather than allowing his frustration to determine what happens next. Darryl has repeatedly spoken about turning Black Banner into a legitimate music company, and allowing one disastrous negotiation to destroy a potentially valuable deal would work directly against that goal.

Leon ultimately becomes the person capable of getting through to him because he understands both sides of the situation. He recognizes why Darryl is angry while also seeing that continuing the dispute could cost everyone the opportunity they have spent the episode trying to build.

Why Does Leon Get Involved in Darryl and Dara’s Conflict?

Leon understands the situation better than most because he knows the personalities involved and the environment surrounding them. After learning what happened, he tells Darryl that pride played a major role in allowing a business disagreement to become something much larger.

More importantly, Leon forces Darryl to consider what Black Banner actually stands to lose. Artillery is the artist Macroscope is interested in, Lamar is central to the record and Wanda has finally created an opportunity that could move everyone toward a legitimate music business.

If Darryl allows his personal dispute with Dara to interfere with Artillery’s career, the entire arrangement could fall apart before it properly begins. Darryl eventually agrees to let Leon handle the situation and also accepts that Wanda did not deliberately create the problem.

That does not mean Darryl suddenly becomes comfortable with what happened. He makes it clear that his patience has limits and that he will not simply ignore future problems if Artillery or Dara interferes with the arrangement again, which gives his final scene much greater significance.

What Deal Do Wanda and Leon Make With Dara?

Wanda and Leon meet Dara without Darryl and try to turn an unstable informal arrangement into an actual business relationship. Instead of treating Dara as somebody who needs to be pushed away from Artillery’s career, Wanda realizes that recognizing her existing role may be the simplest way to keep everyone working together.

Wanda proposes making Dara Artillery’s manager, giving her an official position rather than simply paying her because she supported him in the past. It is a practical solution because Dara remains involved in Artillery’s career, Artillery can continue working with Lamar and Black Banner keeps access to the artist Macroscope wants.

Leon also places his own reputation behind the agreement, which gives Dara another reason to take the arrangement seriously. For Wanda, the negotiation becomes an important lesson in how the music industry works because discovering talent is only one part of the job, while managing the people and relationships surrounding an artist can be just as important.

Who Is Drop in Episode 2?

The meeting with Dara also introduces her nephew, Drop, who appears to have influence in the neighborhood. His presence gives Wanda and Leon a clearer understanding of the wider network surrounding Dara and shows that her connection to Artillery is not something Black Banner can simply dismiss.

Episode 2 does not reveal enough about Drop to establish exactly how important he will become later in the series. However, introducing him by name during one of the episode’s most important negotiations suggests that the character could return as Black Banner’s relationship with Dara and Artillery develops.

His introduction also reinforces the idea that Wanda is entering a business where personal relationships and community connections can affect professional decisions. Black Banner may technically be negotiating with an artist, but the people surrounding that artist will continue to influence what happens.

Why Is Artillery’s Visit to Lamar’s Neighborhood a Problem?

Lamar sees Artillery primarily as the rapper who can finally bring his music to life, but James immediately recognizes the complications surrounding their collaboration. Artillery and Lamar come from neighborhoods with different affiliations, which makes bringing Artillery into Lamar’s home much more sensitive than Lamar realizes.

James understands that working together in a studio does not automatically erase everything happening outside it. His strong reaction therefore comes from the belief that Lamar is entering situations without fully understanding the relationships and tensions surrounding the people he is working with.

From Lamar’s perspective, James seems determined to stop him whenever his music career begins moving forward. From James’ perspective, Lamar is talented but inexperienced, and he needs somebody around him who understands that creative opportunities can carry consequences beyond the music itself.

Their disagreement is therefore not really about whether Lamar should pursue music. The deeper issue is whether Lamar understands the world surrounding his collaborators well enough to make smart decisions as his career begins taking shape.

What Happened to Lamar and James’ Parents?

Episode 2 also adds another piece to the Kinsey family’s history through Lamar’s conversation with James. Lamar explains that music has been passed through their family, with Big Daddy influencing their mother before that musical connection eventually reached James and Lamar.

For Lamar, pursuing music is therefore not simply a new ambition that suddenly appeared. He believes he is continuing something that already existed inside his family, which is part of the reason James’ resistance hurts him so much.

There are still major gaps in what the brothers know about their parents. They have been told that their mother was a musician and that their parents died in a hit-and-run, but Gerty appears to have shared very little beyond those basic facts.

Her reaction to Lamar’s career makes that missing history more interesting. When Lamar tells her that his opportunity is becoming real, Gerty says she does not want that world returning to her life because it “cost too much,” suggesting that her opposition comes from experiences Lamar and James do not yet fully understand.

Episode 2 does not explain exactly what happened in the past, so there is still more to learn about the Kinsey family. The series appears to be slowly connecting Lamar’s present-day music career with unresolved parts of the family’s history.

Why Are Lamar and James Fighting About Music?

Lamar is particularly hurt by James’ resistance because music was once something the brothers shared. He remembers playing piano with James at church and listening to records together when they were younger, so he naturally assumed James would understand what finally getting a real opportunity means to him.

James looks at the situation differently because he believes Lamar is concentrating on the creative possibilities without seeing everything happening around them. He recognizes his brother’s talent, but he also understands that Lamar is entering a business involving people and relationships he does not fully understand yet.

Their disagreement shows that both brothers may eventually need what the other brings to the table. Lamar understands the music and the creative opportunity better than James gives him credit for, while James understands the environment around their new collaborators better than Lamar realizes.

The conflict could therefore become the beginning of a stronger partnership rather than permanently separating them. If they eventually learn to trust each other’s strengths, James may become one of the most useful people Lamar has around him as his career develops.

What Does the Macroscope Deal Mean for Wanda and Black Banner?

Wanda’s success with Lamar and Artillery earns her the position of head of A&R at Black Banner, making Episode 2 a major step forward in her career. Macroscope’s interest also confirms that the record has genuine commercial potential and that Wanda’s instincts about Lamar and Artillery were not misplaced.

The company, however, makes it clear that Black Banner needs proper control of its talent before it can build anything around the music. Artillery and Lamar cannot simply create a promising record while everyone surrounding them remains tied together through unclear personal arrangements.

Wanda sees an even bigger possibility in what they are creating. She talks about building something around Inglewood, Compton and Watts, recognizing that rap could develop into a serious industry connected to the communities and artists she already understands.

Darryl recognizes the financial potential as well, but Episode 2 exposes the contradiction he has not yet solved. He wants to operate as a legitimate music executive, yet his instincts during difficult situations still come from the life he is supposedly trying to leave behind.

That contradiction becomes the central point of the ending. Wanda is trying to build a professional label through negotiation and artist development, while Darryl continues looking for ways to protect himself when he believes business arrangements may not be enough.

Who Does Darryl Meet at the End of Episode 2?

After Leon and Wanda reach an understanding with Dara, the immediate dispute appears to be settled. Leon has created enough space for the Artillery deal to continue, while Wanda believes the new arrangement allows everyone involved to benefit from the artist’s success.

Darryl, however, has quietly been making plans of his own. In the final scene, he meets an unidentified man who indicates that Darryl contacted him because there may be people he needs help dealing with.

The episode does not reveal the man’s name, background or exact connection to Darryl. It also does not identify any specific person Darryl wants him to focus on, making it important not to treat the scene as confirmation of a plan the show has not actually revealed.

What matters is that Darryl contacted him at all. Instead of completely trusting Leon’s solution, he appears to be preparing a backup option in case the agreement with Dara does not work the way everyone expects.

What Is Darryl Planning After the Deal With Dara?

Episode 2 deliberately leaves Darryl’s exact plan unresolved, and the final scene does not show him specifically naming Dara or anyone connected to her. Leon’s agreement is technically still intact when the episode ends, meaning Darryl could simply be preparing for the possibility that another problem develops later.

Dara and her associates are nevertheless the most obvious reason for his decision to arrange the meeting. Darryl spent much of the episode frustrated by how the original negotiation unfolded, and although he eventually allowed Leon to solve the problem, nothing suggests that he has completely moved past what happened.

The final scene therefore changes how viewers should interpret the apparent resolution between the two sides. Wanda believes she has created a business arrangement that can benefit Darryl, Dara, Artillery and Lamar, while Leon believes he has prevented the disagreement from destroying the opportunity.

Darryl appears willing to accept that solution as long as everything continues working in Black Banner’s favor. At the same time, his private meeting suggests that he wants another option available if the arrangement begins to fall apart.

That creates a fragile foundation for Black Banner’s future and sets up the next stage of the story. The biggest question after Episode 2 is no longer simply whether Wanda can sign Artillery, but whether Darryl will allow the new arrangement to work without allowing his personal frustration to interfere with what Wanda and Leon have built.
