MobLand Season 2 Episode 4, “Blank Curtain,” begins with the Harrigans trying to hide the damage Frankie Cooper left behind and ends with Conrad deciding that hiding is no longer an option. Harry manages the police investigation into the yard explosion, discovers that his corrupt contact Finch is about to be exposed, and learns the full extent of Seraphina’s secret arrangement with Kat McAllister. Elsewhere, Jan wakes up with Jamie after spending the night with him, while Eddie and Gina leave London for Ireland on a mysterious mission arranged by Maeve. Kevin’s frustration with Conrad also reaches the point where he forces Harry to choose what happens next. By the final scene, Conrad makes his own choice and effectively declares war on Frankie.
Harry Covers Up Frankie’s Explosion
The explosion at Kevin’s yard has created exactly the kind of police attention Harry wanted to avoid. Finch reports that the site is badly damaged and difficult to examine immediately, giving Harry a useful window to manipulate the investigation. The two quietly arrange for the blast to look like a conventional gas leak rather than evidence of Frankie’s attack on the Harrigans. Harry knows, however, that the sophistication of the bombing means Frankie either researched them extensively or is receiving very good intelligence. Conrad is less interested in caution and blames Kevin, Harry and Kat for allowing the family’s enemies to believe the Harrigans are vulnerable.
Their confrontation makes the split inside the family impossible to ignore. Conrad tells Harry that there are now two sides, his and Kevin’s, and demands that the fixer finally choose one. Harry tries to make him understand that internal suspicion is exactly how they lose the larger war, but Conrad has stopped accepting that kind of restraint as wisdom. Maeve, rather than calming him, clearly prefers seeing the aggressive version of her husband return. By the time Harry leaves, Conrad is thinking less like a damaged patriarch trying to preserve his empire and more like a man eager to prove that people should still fear him.

Did Jan Sleep With Jamie?
Yes, Episode 4 confirms what Episode 3 only strongly implied: Jan and Jamie spent the night together. Jan wakes up with him, they kiss, and she admits that what happened between them was “kind of amazing,” even while worrying that it happened too soon after her separation from Harry. Jamie responds carefully and offers to leave without demanding that she see him again, which makes him appear understanding at exactly the moment Jan is emotionally vulnerable. The problem is that Jan still does not know Jamie’s real identity. He is Donnie, a man connected to Kat McAllister who deliberately worked his way into Jan’s life.
That makes their relationship far more dangerous than an ordinary affair following a broken marriage. Donnie knows who Harry is and knows exactly whose wife he is sleeping with, while Jan believes she has met someone outside the criminal world that destroyed her family. The episode does not yet reveal whether Donnie has developed genuine feelings for Jan or whether the entire relationship is part of his work for Kat. Either possibility creates trouble for Harry because Donnie is now closer to Jan than any Harrigan enemy should be. Jan thinks she is beginning to move away from Harry, but she may actually be moving deeper into the conflict surrounding him.
Why Are Eddie and Gina Going to Ireland?
Maeve sends Eddie to County Kerry without explaining the true purpose of the trip. She instructs him to travel quietly, rent an unremarkable car and eventually make his way toward Sneem, where Eddie remembers spending time as a child. Maeve surprisingly approves of Gina accompanying him, despite previously demanding that Eddie remove her from his life. When Eddie asks what the trip is really about, Maeve describes it as a “quest” and promises that the reason will become clear later. Episode 4 therefore establishes the mission but deliberately withholds its objective.
The journey also puts Gina in an unusual position inside the Harrigan family. Before she leaves, Conrad finds her at Eddie’s flat and gives her an unexpectedly detailed account of Harry’s past. He explains that Harry knew Kevin at Newgate, later joined the Parachute Regiment, served overseas and eventually worked private security before Conrad hired him about 15 years earlier. Conrad describes Harry’s loyalty as something almost impossible to break, despite currently questioning that loyalty himself. The conversation gives Gina a version of her father she has rarely been allowed to see and may complicate the anger she has carried toward him.
Seraphina Admits She Is Working With Kat
Harry finally confronts Seraphina about her connection to Kat McAllister, and Seraphina does not try to deny it. She explains that Brendan’s death convinced her the Harrigan family was heading toward destruction and that simply trusting Conrad to save everyone would eventually get her killed. Kat approached her with an alternative, and Seraphina accepted. She expects Harry to punish her for the betrayal and even seems prepared for him to kill her. Instead, Harry recognizes that her position inside Kat’s organization could become useful.

Harry tells Seraphina that he understands why she made the choice because he nearly made the same one himself. Rather than forcing her to abandon Kat, he wants Seraphina to stay close and report back whenever Kat contacts her. That effectively transforms Seraphina from a potential traitor into Harry’s unofficial source inside the enemy camp. The arrangement is dangerous because Kat is unlikely to tolerate being used if she discovers what is happening. It also means Seraphina is now balancing two competing alliances, either of which could become fatal if the other side learns the truth.
Why Does Harry Kill Finch?
DCI Kavanagh becomes suspicious after examining evidence from the earlier dog-track shooting and discovering signs that the ballistics package has been opened and resealed. The chain of custody points directly toward Finch, putting Harry’s corrupt police contact in immediate danger of exposure. Harry confirms the situation by arranging a robbery and deliberately leaving behind a vehicle already associated with the Harrigans. When information about the obvious Harrigan connection never reaches Finch, Harry realizes Kavanagh has quietly cut him out of the investigative loop. Finch is no longer useful as an inside source because the police already suspect him.
Harry takes Finch to a remote location and makes him understand that there is no realistic escape. He promises that regular payments will continue going to Finch’s wife, allowing Finch to believe his family will at least be financially protected. Finch desperately claims he has created a file capable of bringing down the Harrigans if anything happens to him, but Harry quickly exposes the claim as a bluff by threatening to question Finch’s wife about it. Finch finally admits there is no file. Harry then kills him by hanging him, removing the compromised link before Kavanagh can use him to reach the Harrigans.

MobLand Episode 4 Ending: Does Conrad Declare War on Frankie?
Yes, the ending makes clear that Conrad has decided to answer Frankie’s challenge with open violence. While Harry is trying to control police exposure and Kevin demands a decisive meeting at the Cotswolds, Conrad takes matters into his own hands. He arrives where a group of men are gathered, announces himself and directly addresses Cooper even though Frankie is not clearly shown standing among them. Conrad then declares that if Frankie wants a war, he will give him one before attacking the men in front of him. The scene carries directly into the credits, leaving the scale of Conrad’s retaliation unresolved.
The important part is not simply that Conrad fights Frankie’s people, but that he ignores everything Harry has been trying to accomplish. Harry wants information, leverage and enough time to understand Kat and Frankie’s structure before committing the family to another war. Conrad interprets that caution as weakness, particularly after Frankie humiliated the Harrigans by kidnapping Bella and bombing Kevin’s yard. His attack therefore re-establishes his authority while potentially destroying Harry’s ability to control the conflict. Episode 5 now begins with the Harrigans no longer debating whether they are at war with Frankie Cooper because Conrad has made that decision for everyone.
