Lioness Season 4 Cast: Who Could Return? Characters and Photos

Lioness Season 3 leaves almost every major character with unfinished business. Joe McNamara has survived the operation against her but returns to an empty home, Cruz Manuelos is pulled back toward a conflict rooted in her first Lioness mission, and the finale brings Aaliyah Amrohi back into the larger story. Paramount+ has not officially renewed Lioness for Season 4 as of September 20, 2026, which also means there is no confirmed Season 4 cast list yet. Still, the finale and recent cast interviews give a fairly clear picture of which characters would be central if Taylor Sheridan’s spy thriller returns.

Zoe Saldana as Joe McNamara

Zoe Saldana would remain the most important expected return as CIA officer Joe McNamara. Season 3 revolves around Joe’s kidnapping and the agency’s attempt to identify the people behind it, while the finale leaves her facing another threat instead of closing her story. Joe also suffers an enormous personal consequence when Neal takes their daughters and leaves, meaning another season has both an intelligence story and a family story ready for her. Paramount currently lists Saldana among the featured stars of the Season 3 finale, and she remains an executive producer on the series.

Laysla De Oliveira as Cruz Manuelos

Laysla De Oliveira is another character who would be difficult to imagine Season 4 without. Cruz has evolved from Joe’s original Lioness recruit into one of the team’s most experienced operatives, and De Oliveira has already spoken about wanting to explore Cruz’s growth further in a possible fourth season. Season 3 also deepens Cruz’s relationship with Josie while strengthening her connection with Joe, creating several directions for the character to continue.

The finale makes Cruz even more important because Aaliyah’s return brings Season 1 back into the present-day story. Their history was never emotionally simple, and a future confrontation between Cruz and Aaliyah could become one of Season 4’s central character conflicts. That does not confirm what Sheridan plans to do with them, but it makes Cruz one of the safest expected returning characters.

Stephanie Nur as Aaliyah Amrohi

Stephanie Nur could become one of the biggest Season 4 cast additions after returning as Aaliyah Amrohi. The Season 3 finale reveals that Aaliyah is connected to the revenge operation targeting Joe, bringing the show’s very first Lioness mission back into the larger story. Entertainment Weekly identifies Aaliyah as the figure behind the new threat and says her plan extends beyond Joe toward the Lioness team itself.

That makes Aaliyah more than a surprise cameo. If Season 4 follows directly from the finale, Stephanie Nur could have a substantially larger role as the person driving the next conflict. Her relationship with Cruz also gives the story an emotional dimension that another anonymous antagonist would not have.

Nicole Kidman as Kaitlyn Meade

Nicole Kidman’s Kaitlyn Meade remains central to the CIA side of Lioness and is another strong expected return. Kaitlyn spends Season 3 managing the political consequences surrounding Joe’s disappearance while working alongside Westfield and Mullins to interpret a rapidly changing intelligence picture. The finale also leaves serious consequences from decisions made by senior CIA officials, giving Kaitlyn plenty to deal with if the story continues. Paramount continues to list Kidman as both a star and executive producer of the series.

Genesis Rodriguez as Josie Carrillo

Genesis Rodriguez should also be considered a likely returning cast member if Cruz’s Season 4 story continues. Josie and Cruz are living together by Season 3, and De Oliveira has specifically discussed how Josie gives Cruz a sense of safety and allows viewers to see a softer side of her.

Aaliyah’s return could complicate that relationship without automatically turning it into a romantic triangle. Cruz has unresolved history with Aaliyah, while Josie represents the life and relationship Cruz has built since Season 1. That gives Rodriguez’s character a legitimate reason to remain important rather than functioning only as another member of the operational team.

Dave Annable as Neal McNamara

Dave Annable’s status is more uncertain because Season 3 deliberately sends Neal away from Joe. Neal takes their daughters and leaves the family home after Joe once again chooses to continue the mission instead of returning to them. However, there has been no announcement that Annable is leaving Lioness, and the actor has discussed the possibility of continuing Joe and Neal’s story in another season.

That makes Neal an expected but less certain return than Joe or Cruz. His absence would leave one of Season 3’s biggest emotional cliffhangers unresolved, while his return could explore whether the marriage is actually over or merely separated. The storyline does not require Neal to immediately move back home for Annable to remain part of the series.

Morgan Freeman, Michael Kelly and the Lioness Team

Morgan Freeman as Edwin Mullins and Michael Kelly as Byron Westfield would also be natural returns because the consequences of the Season 3 operation extend directly into the highest levels of the CIA and government. Paramount’s Season 3 material prominently features both actors alongside Saldana and Kidman.

The operational team could also bring back Jill Wagner as Bobby, LaMonica Garrett as Tucker, Thad Luckinbill as Kyle, James Jordan as Two Cups, Austin Hebert as Randy, Jonah Wharton as Tex and Ian Bohen as Grady. Paramount’s Season 3 galleries show most of that unit together, and the finale does not provide a clean ending to their work. No individual member should be called officially confirmed for Season 4 until Paramount releases a cast announcement.

Is the Lioness Season 4 Cast Confirmed?

Not yet. Paramount+ has not formally announced Lioness Season 4, so there is currently no official cast list. However, new writers joining the series, Jill Wagner’s confidence about another season and the unresolved Aaliyah cliffhanger all point toward the creative team preparing for more story.

If Season 4 moves forward, Zoe Saldana, Laysla De Oliveira and Stephanie Nur appear especially important because the finale directly ties Joe and Cruz back to Aaliyah. Nicole Kidman, Morgan Freeman, Michael Kelly and the QRF team also remain central to the wider CIA storyline, while Dave Annable and Genesis Rodriguez have major unresolved personal connections to Joe and Cruz. Until Paramount makes the renewal official, though, these should be presented as expected returning cast members rather than confirmed Season 4 casting.
