Lioness Season 3 Episode 7, titled Kiss the Girls, arrives on Paramount+ on Sunday, September 13, 2026, and the brief official synopsis promises a major change in the season’s pace. After several episodes built around surveillance, hidden networks and the slow hunt for Joe, the next chapter will see the operation “erupt into open conflict” while Kaitlyn and Westfield coordinate a massive search. Episode 7 is also the penultimate installment of the eight-episode season, with the finale following on September 20. That positioning makes it increasingly difficult for the series to delay the confrontation with Babat much longer, even though the official material carefully avoids confirming whether Joe is actually rescued.
Sugar Land ended with the CIA finally understanding more of the operation than the people behind Joe’s kidnapping probably realize. Kyle and Oleksa’s investigation shifted suspicion away from a purely Russian operation and toward Iran, while the team also disrupted the aircraft that appeared intended to take Joe out of the United States. Babat responded by changing plans, mutilating Joe’s pinky toe and preparing to move her through another route before Randy and Tex could find the correct location. Episode 7 therefore begins with both sides under pressure, because the kidnappers have lost their clean extraction plan while the CIA knows Joe’s condition is deteriorating.

Will Joe Finally Be Rescued in Episode 7?
Joe’s rescue should become the central objective of Kiss the Girls, but Paramount has deliberately stopped short of confirming that the team succeeds. The official synopsis describes Kaitlyn and Westfield coordinating a “massive search,” which sounds considerably larger than the targeted surveillance and small-team operations that dominated Sugar Land. That escalation makes sense now that the CIA believes it understands the broader structure of the kidnapping and no longer needs to hide the full extent of its response. With Babat also forced away from his original flight plan, Episode 7 could become a race between a rapidly expanding American search and an improvised Iranian-linked escape.
There is still a reasonable possibility that Joe’s actual rescue is saved for the finale, especially because Kiss the Girls is only the penultimate episode. The promo and synopsis promise conflict rather than explicitly promising recovery, which leaves room for the operation to end with the team locating Joe but not yet getting her safely home. That would allow Episode 8, The Unraveling, to deal with both the final confrontation and the larger conspiracy uncovered throughout Season 3. Still, after the repeated near misses of Episodes 4 through 6, another full episode in which the team learns almost nothing new would feel unlikely.

What Does “Open Conflict” Mean for Kaitlyn and Westfield?
The phrase “open conflict” strongly suggests that the intelligence war is about to become a much more visible tactical operation. Kaitlyn and Westfield have spent the season balancing intelligence collection, political consequences and competing agencies, particularly while Operation Treasure exposed foreign assets inside American institutions. Episode 7’s synopsis puts both of them directly at the center of the search rather than describing Kyle or the QRF alone, indicating that finding Joe may now require coordination at the highest levels. Official Episode 7 photos also show Nicole Kidman, Morgan Freeman and Michael Kelly together, supporting the idea that Kaitlyn, Mullins and Westfield remain involved in the command side of the crisis.
The CIA also has fewer reasons to protect the secrecy of its hunt once the kidnappers begin moving Joe again. Babat’s group has already demonstrated that it is willing to torture her and intends to take her outside the country, while the compromised aircraft means the original logistics of the operation are collapsing. A massive search could therefore involve broader law-enforcement and military resources instead of the small covert teams used earlier in the season. The danger is that a larger American response may make Babat more desperate, and desperation is particularly dangerous when his hostage is already badly injured.

Will Babat Try to Move Joe Out of Texas?
Babat has little reason to remain in the same area after Sugar Land. The CIA has discovered too much of the network, the intended aircraft has been neutralized and American teams have already searched frighteningly close to where Joe was being held. His most logical move is to abandon the compromised safe-house structure and find another way to reach either the border or a different extraction point. That does not guarantee Episode 7 leaves Texas, but the circumstances make remaining stationary increasingly dangerous for everyone involved in holding Joe.
Joe’s injury may complicate that escape just as much as it complicates her ability to resist. Babat deliberately reduces her mobility, but transporting an injured and recognizable captive during a massive search creates its own problems. The more improvised his route becomes, the more opportunities the CIA has to spot a mistake that would never have existed in the original plan. Kiss the Girls may therefore turn the kidnappers’ brutality against them, because hurting Joe makes her easier to control but harder to move quietly.
What Could the Title Kiss the Girls Mean?
Kiss the Girls may have a deeper connection to Joe’s family than the title initially suggests. During Season 2, Joe called Neal before leaving on another dangerous mission and asked him to kiss their daughters for her, only for an angry Neal to refuse and tell Joe that she could kiss them herself when she finally came home. That exchange became one of the clearest examples of the damage Joe’s career was doing to her marriage, making the Episode 7 title difficult to ignore now that Joe is fighting to survive long enough to see her family again. The series has not officially confirmed that Kiss the Girls is a direct callback, so it should be treated as a strong thematic possibility rather than established fact.

Paramount’s Episode 7 photo gallery makes the interpretation even more interesting. The official stills include Zoe Saldaña as Joe, Dave Annable as Neal, Hannah Love Lanier as Kate, as well as a separate image featuring Nicole Kidman and Annable together. Those images confirm that the McNamara family story continues alongside the search operation, although they do not reveal the circumstances of those scenes. If Joe is rescued during Kiss the Girls, the title could finally turn Neal’s Season 2 challenge into a painful homecoming payoff.
Episode 7 Could Change the Season Before the Finale
Kiss the Girls has to accomplish more than simply move the search a little closer to Joe. Sugar Land already revealed that Iran is likely behind the broader operation, introduced Babat as the new face of Joe’s captivity and destroyed the kidnappers’ original extraction route. Episode 7 now has the opportunity to bring those threads together through the “open conflict” promised by the synopsis while also showing how much the ordeal has changed Joe physically and psychologically. With only the finale remaining afterward, the season can no longer keep its major players separated indefinitely.

The most important question is therefore not only whether Joe survives, because Sugar Land already leaves her alive. What matters is whether Kaitlyn’s massive search reaches her before Babat finds another route out of the country and whether the CIA discovers who above Babat actually authorized the operation. Kiss the Girls could resolve the hostage story and leave the larger conspiracy for The Unraveling, or it could end with one final rescue cliffhanger leading directly into the finale. Either way, Episode 7 looks positioned to turn the investigation that has dominated the middle of Season 3 into the direct confrontation viewers have been waiting for.
