Russell Crowe’s Henry A. Murray was a real and influential Harvard psychologist. Murray worked at the Harvard Psychological Clinic and became an important figure in personality psychology, including helping develop the Thematic Apperception Test with researcher Christiana Morgan, who is played by Annabelle Wallis in the movie. Kaczynski really did participate in a controversial study overseen by Murray while he was at Harvard.
