Bibin Ouseph (Sanju Sivram) is dead at the close of 1000 Babies Season 1, which released on Disney+ Hotstar on October 18, 2024. Bibin had arranged the encounter deliberately, and the finale implies he had identified Aji as the one officer likely to take him in alive rather than execute him on the spot: a public trial was his route to forcing his mother’s suppressed confession into open record. The shot removes that possibility, leaves approximately 1,000 families without knowledge that their children were swapped at birth, and leaves Bibin’s network of loyalists operating without him.

Sarah Ouseph’s Confession and What Bibin Found Out

Sarah Ouseph (Neena Gupta) confessed to deliberately swapping the identities of approximately 1,000 newborns at birth during 1980 to 1985, while working as an obstetric head nurse at a hospital in Alappuzha. The series sets this revelation in 2010 in Mundakkayam, Kottayam, where Sarah is living with her son Bibin and experiencing hallucinations tied to her past. Her motive, as she explains in letters she later wrote, was jealousy toward the mothers giving birth. Bibin was himself one of those swapped infants; his biological family declined to take him, and Sarah raised him.

Bibin attacks Sarah after the confrontation and leaves with her diaries. She is admitted to hospital, and before she dies of her injuries she arranges for two letters to be delivered: one to a police officer, one to the local magistrate. Officers Nawaz and Anil and Magistrate Samuel K. Sam (Joy Mathew) receive the letters and suppress the contents. They conclude the scale of the problem makes disclosure impossible, and seal the matter.

According to Wikipedia, Neena Gupta’s casting represented her return to a Malayalam-language production after 32 years. Her dialogue was dubbed into Malayalam by voice actress Jayalakshmi.

How Bibin Selected His Targets

Bibin does not kill every swapped baby he locates. The show presents him as a self-appointed judge who targets people he considers to have misused their circumstances, while sparing those he regards as genuine victims of the swap.

The series names three victims in enough detail to trace his reasoning. Renuka Swaminathan (Nazlin Saleem) was described by those around her as habitually cruel to her parents. Bibin joined her social group under a false name and engineered her death to appear as a drug overdose, timed to her birthday.

Devan Kupleri (Manesh Krishnan), a local political figure who cultivated a religious public image, had that image destroyed by Bibin through a leaked video before his death; autopsy found pesticides in his alcohol. Khalil Gibran, who had served prison time for killing his own mother, was tracked to Tenkasi, Tamil Nadu.

For several deaths Bibin worked through intermediaries rather than acting directly. A “storyteller” he placed befriended Sanjeevan (Ashwin Kkumar) and shaped him, across repeated meetings, toward killing his wife, actress Ancy Sanjeevan (Radhika Radhakrishnan). A letter carrier sent correspondence to a woman named Merlin. These planted operatives extended Bibin’s reach and complicated Aji’s ability to identify a single suspect behind the pattern.

How Aji Kurian’s Investigation Developed

The 2022 thread of the show opens with Ancy Sanjeevan’s death, initially recorded as a heart attack. Autopsy evidence contradicts this, and Sanjeevan eventually names the “storyteller” as the figure who influenced him. Merlin then contacts Aji with letters she received that echo the Ancy case in specific ways. The two threads converge on Bibin as a common source.

Aji builds a small task force with officers Vinod and Anzari (Adil Ibrahim), keeping the investigation narrow to avoid forcing Sarah’s suppressed letters into any formal process. He reconstructs Bibin’s method: approach a swapped baby under a false identity, cultivate a relationship over time, observe how they live, and act on their birthday if they meet his criteria for removal.

Aji’s superiors, Nawaz and Samuel, push for an extrajudicial killing rather than an arrest. An arrest creates a trial; a trial creates a record. Aji refuses.

What Happens in the Finale

A lead tracing Bibin to Khalil Gibran’s location in Tamil Nadu surfaces via a tea stall whose worker identified both men. Anzari raises doubts: the trail is unusually legible for someone as careful as Bibin. When the team reaches the location, Bibin is standing outside, waiting for them.

He had already killed Gibran there a year earlier. The episode treats the legible trail as a deliberate invitation.

The episode implies Bibin had calculated that Aji, whose refusals of the execution order were observable within the investigation, was the one officer likely to take him in alive. Arrest meant court; court meant the letters entered as evidence. Vinod shoots him before Aji can intervene, citing the standing orders. Bibin dies before he can give Aji anything usable about the network’s remaining members or the targets still on his list.

The Cliffhanger and What It Sets Up

The final sequence shows Anzari receiving a message about Bibin’s death. He then kills the tea stall boy who identified Bibin, removing the one local witness who had seen Bibin’s face at that location. The scene places Anzari as a Bibin loyalist embedded in Aji’s own task force from the beginning.

Developed under the working title 1000+ Babies, the series makes plain through its finale that the decision taken by Nawaz, Anil, and Samuel in 2010 to suppress Sarah’s letters is not backstory: it is the mechanism that produced every subsequent death in the 2022 timeline.
