Furious Season 2 is officially happening. Disney announced on August 28, 2026 that the Hulu thriller had been renewed for another season, ending the uncertainty that surrounded the show through most of its eight-episode first run. The renewal arrived just before the Season 1 finale and came with another encouraging detail: Disney said Episode 7’s one-day views were 40 percent higher than the premiere. There is no Season 2 release date yet, and creator Elizabeth Meriwether has not finished mapping out everything that comes next. The finale and Meriwether’s comments do, however, give us a much clearer idea of the future, including more of Alice Black, new FBI cases and probably a smaller role for Catherine Grace.
Spoiler Alert
Has Furious Been Renewed for Season 2?
Yes, Furious has officially been renewed for Season 2. Disney confirmed the renewal on August 28, three days before the Season 1 finale premiered on August 31. The announcement covers the Hulu Original in the United States, with Furious continuing through Disney+ internationally.
That means the uncertainty surrounding the show’s status as a possible limited series is effectively over. Season 1 may have been ordered as an eight-episode run, but Furious was never creatively designed around the requirement that those eight episodes be the entire story. Meriwether had already said before the renewal that she wanted an ending capable of resolving the first season while allowing the characters to continue.
The audience numbers apparently helped that possibility become reality. According to Disney, viewership was growing week over week, with Episode 7 receiving 40 percent more one-day views than Episode 1.

When Could Furious Season 2 Be Released?
There is currently no confirmed release date or release window for Furious Season 2. Hulu and Disney have not announced when filming will begin, how many episodes the second season will contain or when production is expected to finish.
Emmy Rossum also cautioned against expecting immediate answers after the renewal. Speaking around the Season 1 finale, Rossum explained that the second season had not yet been written, meaning many of the questions created by Episode 8 were still possibilities rather than locked storylines.
For that reason, attaching a specific 2027 month to Furious Season 2 would currently be guesswork. A 2027 return is certainly possible depending on how quickly development and production move, but there is not enough official information yet to call it the release window.
The most accurate status is straightforward: Season 2 is confirmed, but its premiere date has not been announced.
What Will Furious Season 2 Be About?
Meriwether’s clearest plan is to keep Alice and her FBI squad while introducing new cases. She previously compared the potential structure to the kind of ongoing crime storytelling she enjoys in Law & Order: SVU, where the central investigators can move between different cases without abandoning their continuing personal stories.
After the finale, Meriwether became even more specific. She said the future of Furious would involve remaining with the FBI squad as they take on new investigations. She also believes there is considerably more of Alice’s story to uncover and wants to explore Nora more deeply.
That means Season 2 probably will not simply extend the hunt for Catherine or invent another reason for her to escape. Season 1 resolves the central Isabel Luna mystery, puts Catherine in prison and kills Jay Easton. The basic investigation that launched Furious has reached an ending. Alice, however, is anything but resolved.
She secretly kills Jay after realizing he recognizes her from the abuse video recorded when she was 14. She later discovers that the video had been downloaded more than 50,000 times. Furious does not confirm that Alice intends to track down or kill those people, but the combination of those revelations gives Season 2 a dangerous internal conflict to explore while Alice investigates entirely new offenders.

Will Emmy Rossum and Lola Petticrew Return?
Emmy Rossum’s Alice is clearly positioned as the continuing center of Furious, although Hulu has not released a complete official Season 2 cast list yet. Alice’s job naturally supports the new-case format Meriwether has described, while her decision to kill Jay gives her a secret capable of following her far beyond Season 1.
Catherine’s future is much clearer now than it was before the finale, and viewers probably should not expect Lola Petticrew to remain a co-lead in the same way. Meriwether revealed after Episode 8 that Petticrew’s contract was for one year and said she does not see a large amount of Catherine’s story left to tell. Petticrew has also joined Netflix’s Assassin’s Creed series.
That does not necessarily mean Catherine will completely disappear. Meriwether specifically suggested that Catherine could still function as a sounding board for Alice. That possibility makes sense after their final prison conversation, where Catherine realizes Alice is hiding something about Jay’s death.
Catherine started Season 1 as the woman Alice needed to understand in order to catch. Season 2 could use her more selectively as the person capable of understanding what Alice herself is becoming.

What About Nora, Danny and Emma in Season 2?
No complete returning cast has been announced, but Nora appears particularly important to Meriwether’s future plans. The creator has specifically said there is much more about Nora that has not been explored, making her one of the clearest candidates for a larger Season 2 storyline alongside Alice.
That would fit the procedural direction perfectly. Nora understands better than most characters how institutions can protect powerful offenders while also knowing how easily Alice can cross professional boundaries when a case becomes personal. Alice returns to Nora’s squad after her suspension, but Nora has no idea that Alice deliberately killed Jay.
Danny’s situation is less certain. He survives Season 1 and his relationship with Alice finally becomes more intimate, but he also decides to leave law enforcement. Scoot McNairy has not been officially announced for Season 2, so it remains unclear whether Danny will stay involved primarily through Alice’s personal life or move out of the story.
Emma Easton is another conspicuous loose end. Despite helping Jay and destroying evidence, Emma remains free at the conclusion of Season 1. Furious does not establish that she will become a Season 2 antagonist, but her survival gives the writers the option to revisit the consequences of the Easton operation without continuing Jay’s story directly.

Will Alice Go After the 50,000 People Who Downloaded Her Video?
This is the biggest unanswered question created by the finale, but it is not yet confirmed as the Season 2 storyline. Alice finally forces herself to watch the recording of her teenage abuse and discovers the enormous number of people who downloaded it. Coming immediately after the revelation that she murdered Jay, the scene naturally makes the list look like a possible set of future targets.
Meriwether has confirmed that Alice’s darker side is something the show can continue exploring, but neither she nor Rossum has said that Season 2 will turn Alice into a serial killer hunting everyone connected to the video. Treating all 50,000 names as a literal kill list would therefore go further than the finale establishes.
What is confirmed is more interesting anyway. Furious started with Alice pursuing Catherine because Catherine believed conventional justice had failed and chose to punish men herself. By the finale, Alice has also intentionally killed a man she believes deserves punishment and successfully hidden what she did.
That makes the real Season 2 question less about whether Alice becomes another Catherine overnight and more about what happens when she returns to the FBI knowing she has already crossed the line she spent an entire season policing.
Furious Season 2 Can Become a Very Different Show
Season 1 does not need to be repeated for Furious to continue. Meriwether has now confirmed the direction she had been considering since before the premiere: Alice and the FBI squad can investigate different cases while their personal lives and moral compromises continue developing from season to season.
Catherine’s reduced role reinforces that idea. Her story helped transform Alice, but Furious does not have to keep inventing reasons for the two women to chase each other. Alice herself has become the larger mystery.
There is still no Season 2 release date, production schedule or complete returning cast. What is no longer uncertain is whether the story gets another chapter. Furious Season 2 is officially confirmed, and after Alice’s final actions in Episode 8, the show already has a far more complicated FBI agent to bring back when it returns.
