Why Did Luis Ruelas’ Ex Consider Suing Jackie Goldschneider?

Vanessa Reiser reportedly considered taking legal action against Jackie Goldschneider because attorney Doug Anton claims the former Real Housewives of New Jersey cast member did more than simply listen while Reiser discussed her disputes with ex-fiance Luis Ruelas.

According to Anton’s account, Jackie allegedly answered some of Vanessa’s legal questions and communicated with her in a way that created trust. Anton has suggested that the messages could raise questions about confidentiality and whether Vanessa reasonably believed she was receiving legal guidance from Jackie, who previously practiced law.

However, Vanessa has not been shown filing a lawsuit against Jackie. No court or attorney disciplinary authority has ruled that Jackie represented Vanessa, violated attorney-client privilege, or committed professional misconduct. The accusation currently comes from a preview of a two-part Get Real With Kim D podcast discussion, rather than a filed legal complaint.

What Did Doug Anton Claim About Jackie Goldschneider?

Anton, who has represented Vanessa during parts of her long-running legal conflict with Luis, discussed the alleged messages while appearing with Vanessa on Kim DePaola’s podcast.

His account suggests that Jackie was not merely asking Vanessa about her relationship with Luis or listening to her side of the story. Anton claims Jackie also responded to questions about Vanessa’s legal situation and used her legal knowledge during their conversations.

That distinction matters because Jackie is not simply a reality television personality. Before joining RHONJ, she earned a law degree and practiced as an attorney in New York. She later stopped practicing after moving to New Jersey, but her background reportedly influenced the way Vanessa viewed their conversations.

Anton appears to believe Vanessa trusted Jackie because of that experience. He has raised the possibility that attorney-client privilege or a lawyer’s duty of confidentiality could become relevant.

That remains his interpretation of the communications. The messages have not been fully presented in court, and Jackie has not publicly responded to the latest allegation.

Why Was Vanessa Reiser Talking to Jackie?

Jackie’s contact with Vanessa was first exposed during the RHONJ Season 14 finale.

At the time of their initial conversations, Jackie was feuding with Teresa Giudice. Teresa had repeated a rumor alleging that Jackie’s husband, Evan Goldschneider, was having an affair. Jackie later acknowledged that she communicated with Luis’ ex while she was angry with Teresa and wanted potentially useful information in case the conflict escalated.

Vanessa and Jackie reportedly spoke through text messages and phone calls. Jackie also invited Vanessa to her home in 2021.

Jackie eventually admitted that keeping the meeting secret made her uncomfortable. After the information became public, she said she felt relieved that it was no longer standing between her and Teresa as they attempted to rebuild their friendship.

The new controversy is not about whether Jackie and Vanessa communicated. Both sides have acknowledged that they did. The dispute is over the nature of those conversations and whether Jackie acted only as a sympathetic acquaintance or also gave Vanessa legal assistance.

Jackie’s Declaration Supporting Luis Complicated the Story

The situation became more contentious when Jackie later provided a written declaration supporting Luis in his court battle against Vanessa.

Luis had accused Vanessa of violating a 2020 agreement that prevented the former couple from publicly disparaging each other or making damaging statements to third parties. Vanessa denied violating the agreement.

That reversal is central to Anton’s latest claim. Jackie allegedly participated in conversations that Vanessa considered supportive or confidential, only to later describe those conversations in a declaration used by Luis.

Did Jackie Become Vanessa’s Attorney?

Not necessarily. A person does not automatically become someone’s lawyer simply by having a law degree or discussing a legal problem. Friends, former attorneys and television personalities can express opinions without formally representing someone.

However, an attorney-client relationship does not always require a signed contract or payment. In some circumstances, a relationship can be implied when a person seeks legal assistance, the lawyer provides that assistance, and the person’s belief that the lawyer is acting professionally is considered reasonable.

Determining whether that happened between Jackie and Vanessa would require examining the complete messages, what Vanessa asked, how Jackie answered, whether Jackie presented herself as an attorney, and whether either woman understood that a professional relationship was being created.

None of those questions has been decided by a court. Anton raising attorney-client privilege does not prove that the privilege existed.

Did Vanessa Reiser Actually Sue Jackie Goldschneider?

There is no publicly identified lawsuit showing that Vanessa sued Jackie over the alleged legal advice.

The available claim is that Vanessa and Anton considered legal action. That is different from preparing a case, filing a complaint or proving that Jackie breached a legal duty.

Luis also ended his separate court fight with Vanessa in October 2025. He withdrew his attempt to have her found in contempt, and Vanessa’s attorney confirmed that the matter was being dismissed.
