The Napa Boys cast

The Napa Boys arrives on Prime Video looking suspiciously like the latest entry in a comedy series audiences somehow missed. That confusion is deliberate. Director Nick Corirossi and co-writer Armen Weitzman present the movie as The Napa Boys 4: The Sommelier’s Amulet, the fourth installment of a completely fictional franchise whose first three movies do not actually exist. The joke allows the film to introduce old rivalries, supposed franchise lore and unexplained history as if viewers have known these characters for years. At the center are Jack Jr. and Miles Jr., two former adventurers pulled back into Napa wine country alongside obsessive newcomer Puck.

Nick Corirossi Plays Jack Jr.

Nick Corirossi plays Jack Jr., the more enthusiastic half of the original Napa Boys leadership. Jack is still emotionally invested in the group’s mythology and quickly embraces the opportunity to gather everyone for another wine-soaked adventure. Where Miles Jr. questions almost everything around him, Jack behaves as though all the ludicrous rules, artifacts and rivalries of their past deserve complete respect. His commitment to the group becomes increasingly important as the movie reveals that he has a private reason for wanting everyone together again.

Corirossi has an unusually large role behind the camera as well. He directed The Napa Boys and co-wrote the screenplay with Armen Weitzman. Before the film, his comedy work included Funny or Die, directing Deep Murder and scenario writing on Borat Subsequent Moviefilm. That background fits the movie’s combination of gross-out humor, fake franchise mythology and knowingly overproduced adventure-movie cliches.

Armen Weitzman Plays Miles Jr.

Armen Weitzman stars as Miles Jr., Jack’s reluctant co-captain and the character most likely to question why another Napa Boys adventure is necessary. He begins the story trying to distance himself from the legend that has apparently grown around the group. Jack’s return and the appearance of the Sommelier’s Amulet eventually drag him back into the familiar chaos. Miles functions as a useful counterweight to Jack because he recognizes how ridiculous their world can be even while repeatedly getting pulled deeper into it.

Weitzman also co-wrote and produced the film, making him as central to its peculiar sense of humor as Corirossi. Viewers may recognize him as Garfield from Another Period, where he appeared throughout the Comedy Central historical satire. His other credits include Silicon Valley, Veep and Love.

Sarah Ramos Plays Puck

Sarah Ramos plays Puck, an investigative podcaster and devoted Napa Boys fan who becomes the audience’s closest thing to a newcomer perspective. Puck knows the supposed history of the group far better than some of its own members and refuses to remain a spectator once their new adventure begins. She joins the trip through wine country and gradually becomes essential to the mystery surrounding the Sommelier and his amulet. Although Jack and Miles initially appear to be the obvious protagonists, Puck’s role becomes increasingly significant as the story progresses.

Ramos is particularly recognizable from Parenthood, in which she played Haddie Braverman. She later appeared in HBO’s Winning Time and has had a recurring role on The Bear. Her relatively grounded delivery works well against characters who treat absurd Napa Boys mythology with absolute seriousness. Magnolia’s own production material identifies Puck as one of the movie’s three central characters alongside Jack Jr. and Miles Jr.

Mike Mitchell, Jamar Neighbors and Nelson Franklin Play the Other Napa Boys

Mike Mitchell plays Mitch Mitchellson, whose winery becomes tied to the movie’s wine competition and its rivalry with Squirm. Mitch is one of the old Napa Boys orbiting Jack and Miles, but he has more immediate stakes in what happens at the Great Grape Festival because his business needs a victory. Mitchell is also known as one of the hosts of the Doughboys podcast and appeared as Cowan in The Tomorrow War.

Jamar Malachi Neighbors plays the wonderfully literal Stifler’s Brother, another member of the returning group who also happens to be a lawyer. Nelson Franklin plays Kevin, whose reunion with the Napa Boys eventually forces him to decide how much space their old adventures should occupy in his adult life. Neighbors has appeared in projects including Keanu and House Party, while Franklin is familiar from comedies including Veep, New Girl and Black-ish. Their characters help turn the movie from a Jack-and-Miles story into the deliberately oversized ensemble reunion the fake-franchise premise requires.

Paul Rust Plays Squirm and DJ Qualls Plays the Sommelier

Paul Rust plays Squirm, the Napa Boys’ long-standing rival and the major obstacle surrounding the wine competition. Squirm has enjoyed considerable success in Napa and carries himself with the confidence of someone who believes he has finally surpassed the heroes of this imaginary franchise. Rust’s exaggerated performance fits a character designed to feel like a villain audiences are supposedly expected to remember from earlier adventures that were never made. He is best known to many viewers as Gus from Netflix’s Love and has also appeared in films including Inglourious Basterds.

DJ Qualls plays the Sommelier, the mysterious figure whose amulet brings the gang back together. The character spends much of the movie functioning as a piece of unexplained franchise lore before eventually appearing himself. Qualls is recognizable from Road Trip, The New Guy and his television work in shows including Supernatural. The Sommelier deliberately plays like the wise mystical figure that a fourth adventure movie would expect longtime fans to understand without requiring any explanation.

Who Else Is in The Napa Boys Cast?

Chloe Cherry plays Kim, while Vanessa Lee Chester appears as Loretta. Riki Lindhome plays Monica, Beth Dover plays Trixie and Natasha Leggero appears as Annie, Kevin’s wife. The ensemble also includes David Wain as wine competition judge Wilbur Winejudge, Ray Wise as Officer Toland and Mike Hanford as Officer Roland. Ivy Wolk, Harley Quinn Smith, Nik Dodani and Natasha Behnam are among the younger characters who form the movie’s so-called New Class.

The movie even brings in Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith as Jay and Silent Bob, turning its already self-aware parody briefly into an actual comedy crossover. Rather than giving every recognizable performer a major subplot, The Napa Boys uses the size of its cast as part of the joke, behaving like a long-running series that can summon old friends, enemies and unexplained supporting characters whenever necessary. The result is deliberately disorienting at first, but understanding that the earlier Napa Boys movies never existed makes the crowded cast much easier to follow.
