Slow Horses Season 6 Episode 4, titled “Lost and Found,” brings several of the season’s mysteries closer together. Jackson Lamb is still trying to understand why former Slough House personnel are being targeted, while River Cartwright, Sid Baker and JK Coe remain on the move with two persistent operatives following them.

At the same time, Diana Taverner’s position at the top of MI5 becomes increasingly unstable. Her connection to a secret operation in Russia is attracting attention, Damien Cantor continues to pressure her, and a senior GRU officer wants Sid Baker handed over. By the end of the episode, Lamb gets closer to discovering who Frank Harkness is working for, but River suffers another major setback.

Lamb Uses Reece to Draw Out Frank

Lamb turns to Reece Nesmith, whose father Andrew secretly removed physical files from the Park. Andrew later tried to demand more money from the people who hired him, making both him and his son potential liabilities.

Lamb believes Frank Harkness was involved and decides to use Reece to bring him into the open. Emma Flyte, recently forced out of her position by Diana, reluctantly allows Lamb to use her home while they organize the plan. Reece calls the last number associated with his father’s arrangement and demands £10,000 for his silence. The call reaches Damien Cantor, who immediately passes the problem to Frank.

A meeting is arranged at a Shake Shack. Lamb arrives alone, but Frank brings two younger associates who clearly admire his reputation. Lamb wants to know whether Frank is responsible for what has been happening to people connected to Slough House, but Frank denies running that operation.

The meeting becomes more complicated when Frank’s men discover Reece nearby. Lamb needs to get both of them away safely, so he takes advantage of a disagreement involving another customer and creates a public scene. Reece adds to the confusion with a loud accusation against Frank, allowing the pair to escape while everyone around them becomes distracted.

Damien Continues Pressuring Diana

Diana’s problems worsen when Damien turns up at her home without warning. He tells her she will receive an important telephone call later and makes it clear that ignoring it is not an option.

Damien’s leverage comes from information connected to Diana’s past decisions. Although she refuses to show him how much pressure she is under, she knows he possesses enough damaging material to create serious problems for her career.

Damien is also shown meeting a mysterious woman whom he appears eager to impress. His actions suggest that controlling Diana is not simply about personal revenge or influence over MI5. He may be trying to demonstrate his usefulness to someone with even greater power.

Diana Faces Questions About Kazan

At the Park, Diana is confronted by Oliver Nash, chairman of the Limitations Committee. Her recent television interview has created unwanted scrutiny, and Nash has been looking more closely at an incident in Kazan, Russia.

The official account describes the fate of a woman there as the result of an ordinary crime. However, she was connected to Russian intelligence and had previously been linked to the loss of two MI5 agents.

That makes the Kazan incident look like a possible retaliatory operation. The problem is that Diana would not normally have the authority or budget to approve such an operation on her own.

If outside money helped fund it, that could explain why Damien now has so much influence over her. Nash tells Diana that the Limitations Committee will review the matter, putting the First Desk position she fought so hard to obtain in real danger.

Vassily Wants Sid Baker

The call Damien warned Diana about comes from Vassily Rasnokov, a senior GRU officer. He believes Sid Baker was responsible for the Kazan operation and wants her handed over. This finally explains the strange Russian travel documents issued in Sid’s name. Sid had already discovered that official records showed her identity being used for travel to Russia even though she never went there.

Someone apparently used Sid’s credentials during the operation, leaving the GRU convinced that she personally carried it out. Vassily offers Diana a deal: give him Sid, and the pressure on people connected to Slough House will stop. Diana now faces a choice between protecting Sid and attempting to contain the wider crisis.

River, Sid and Coe Stay on the Move

Meanwhile, River, Sid and Coe are still trying to stay ahead of Jim and Jane. Their attempt to use a telephone at a bowling alley goes wrong when the two operatives catch up with them.

River injures his hand during the confrontation, and an employee at the bowling alley is caught in the chaos. The three Slow Horses manage to get away and eventually reach a shopping center, where the crowds appear to offer temporary protection.

Sid remains convinced that contacting Diana is still the right decision. River is far less trusting of the Park, especially after everything that has happened to Slough House, but Sid believes her history with Diana means the First Desk will help her. That confidence turns out to be badly misplaced.

Coe Learns Jim Is Connected to the GRU

Jim and Jane eventually enter the shopping center, forcing River, Sid and Coe to separate. Coe spots Jim and follows him into the men’s room, where their confrontation reveals an important detail. Jim is connected to the GRU.

That creates a direct link between the people following Sid and the Russian side of the conspiracy. The confrontation ends badly for Coe, and River later finds him inside the shopping center.

For River, the discovery is another painful loss in a season already defined by former and current Slough House personnel being placed in danger. Sid, however, has moved away from the others because she is still determined to reach Diana.

Why Does Diana Give Sid Up?

Sid uses Coe’s phone to contact Diana, but the call comes too late to save her. Diana has already spoken to Vassily and agreed to his terms.

Instead of helping Sid, Diana orders the call traced and disconnected. She knows Sid did not personally carry out the Kazan operation, but she also knows Vassily believes the official records pointing toward her.

Diana accepts the deal because she hopes handing Sid over will stop the wider campaign involving Slough House. It is a cold calculation, but one consistent with the way Diana has operated throughout the series. Protecting MI5 and containing a larger crisis often matter more to her than loyalty to one individual.

The trace allows Jim and Jane to locate Sid. She tries to get away, but the pair ultimately take her with them before River can intervene.

Who Is Frank Harkness Working For?

While River loses Sid, Lamb continues following Frank after their Shake Shack meeting. Frank eventually enters an upscale restaurant, and Lamb asks Flyte to continue the surveillance.

Flyte follows him inside and discovers that Frank is meeting Damien Cantor.

The revelation connects two of the season’s biggest storylines. Damien has been pressuring Diana while also employing Frank, the man connected to Andrew Nesmith and the stolen Park files.

That does not necessarily mean Damien is responsible for everything happening to Slough House. Instead, Episode 4 suggests that multiple operations are overlapping, with Damien using Frank for his own purposes while Vassily and the GRU pursue their own response to Kazan.

Slow Horses Season 6 Episode 4 Ending Explained

The ending makes Sid’s trust in Diana the episode’s biggest mistake. She spent much of Episodes 3 and 4 believing that the First Desk would protect her, while River and Lamb increasingly questioned whether anyone inside the Park could still be trusted.

Diana’s decision confirms their concerns. She does not appear to want Sid harmed, but when forced to choose between Sid and what she believes is the larger security problem, she sacrifices the former agent.

At the same time, Lamb finally identifies the connection between Frank and Damien. That gives him his clearest lead yet into the hidden operation surrounding the stolen Slough House records.

Episode 4 therefore ends with both sides gaining important information. Lamb gets closer to the people behind the conspiracy, but River loses Sid just as the truth about her connection to Russia begins to emerge.
