Season 2 of Paramount+’s ‘Sacrifice’ opens with Daniella Hernandez trying to rebuild after the Jameson club fire while almost every part of her life remains unstable. Blackgammon is under financial pressure, Ruby is still recovering, Daniella’s back injury continues to trouble her, and the mystery surrounding her parents is far from finished. Her relationship with Dom Mayfield becomes public just as Beverly Rucker launches a mayoral campaign that makes Daniella an increasingly inconvenient friend. By the end of Episode 2, however, the biggest concern is Ellis Shaw, who disappears shortly before he is supposed to expose Syngem to Beverly.
Daniella and Dom Go Public While Blackgammon Faces a Lawsuit
Daniella returns to work determined to protect Blackgammon and recover the Criterion Records shares her father left her. She is also building a larger music business with Dom, and the pair decide to reveal their relationship at the BET Awards. The celebration is interrupted when Daniella is served on the red carpet with a lawsuit connected to the Jameson club fire. Blackgammon’s insurer is also refusing to cover the losses because of Jameson’s criminal activity, leaving Daniella with a problem that could threaten the company.
Daniella proposes an $80 million pool for people affected by the fire, but attorney Josefina Estrada makes it clear that the number will not settle the case. Her class already includes more than 50 people, and the financial exposure could grow beyond what Daniella can easily cover. That pressure is one reason Daniella considers liquidating the Criterion shares she once wanted to protect. Instead, she learns the shares were sold out of the estate to Conde Industries, prompting her to confront the Criterion board and declare war.

Kofi Reopens the Question of How Jameson Was Brought Down
Beverly’s mayoral campaign creates another problem because the Jameson arrest is being presented as proof of her willingness to take on powerful people. Kofi tells Beverly and Jason that she and Jameson were set up and claims Daniella and Dom were behind it. Jason later finds video that appears to show drugs being brought into Jameson’s club, giving him reason to reconsider Kofi’s story. In Episode 2, he privately offers her immunity if she cooperates, even though proving her accusation could damage Beverly’s campaign and her friendship with Daniella.
Beverly is also warned by campaign advisers that Daniella’s scandals could become a political liability after she is photographed at the attack scene. She refuses to abandon her friend and publicly explains that she stopped because she is the District Attorney and believed she could help. Still, Kofi may be able to undermine the Jameson case while Daniella keeps attracting dangerous headlines. The premiere therefore turns one of Beverly’s biggest victories into a possible weakness before her campaign has properly begun.

Who Attacks Daniella and Dom After the BET Awards?
The BET Awards give Dom a major public moment as he receives a Lifetime Achievement Award after working through the conflict involving Naomi and Stucky. Once the event ends, Daniella ignores Miguel’s caution and takes a scenic ride home with Dom, only for their car to be placed in a vulnerable position. Someone opens fire, but both survive, allowing Episode 2 to shift immediately into the search for whoever arranged the attack. The missing driver becomes the first major clue because he was the person who put them exactly where the attackers were waiting.
Dom’s people investigate Jameson’s remaining crew and Unger, but neither lead gives them a convincing answer. Phone records reveal that the driver had been receiving serious threats in the days before the BET Awards and may have been forced to cooperate. Sly becomes convinced that Syngem could be involved, reminding the others that the organization was connected to Daniella’s parents and that she has continued asking questions. By the end of Episode 2, Sly tells Miguel to stay close to Daniella because whoever is behind the attack is far worse than he first believed.
Ellis Finally Admits What He Knew About Daniella’s Parents
Ellis reaches his breaking point at almost the same time the shooting investigation begins. He tells Arnold that he plans to go to the District Attorney and reveal everything he knows about Syngem, even after Arnold warns him that doing so is dangerous. Ellis then admits to Daniella that he knew something was going to happen to her father and claims her mother, Lila, was not supposed to be there. Daniella is furious because Ellis previously denied knowing the truth, and she tells him that his choices destroyed the family.
The confrontation also exposes how badly Daniella is coping. Her back injury has forced her to take pain medication, with Miguel controlling the bottle because she knows her history makes the medication risky. After leaving Ellis, she demands another pill even though Miguel reminds her she has just taken one, suggesting emotional stress is feeding the problem. Between the lawsuit, the attack, the Criterion mystery, and Ellis’ confession, Daniella ends the premiere under far more pressure than she admits.

Is Ellis Shaw Dead at the End of Sacrifice Episode 2?
No, Episode 2 does not confirm that Ellis Shaw is dead, but it deliberately leaves his fate uncertain. Ellis calls Beverly and says he knows who killed Daniella’s parents and possesses names, financial records, and recordings that can prove it. Beverly schedules a meeting with him for 6 p.m., but an hour after the meeting time Ellis has not arrived and is not answering his phone. That absence is especially ominous because Arnold had just warned Ellis that talking openly about Syngem was a very bad idea.
Beverly contacts Daniella, but the episode never shows Ellis’ body or confirms that he has been killed. For now, the most accurate conclusion is that Ellis is missing, with Syngem standing out as the obvious threat because he was preparing to expose the organization. The episode also drops Somwon’s pregnancy revelation and leaves Jason’s Kofi investigation moving forward, but Ellis’ disappearance carries the greatest implications for Daniella. If he survives, his evidence could finally expose the conspiracy surrounding her parents; if he has been silenced, Daniella may have lost the one person who was finally ready to tell her everything.
