Prime Video’s Red Queen Season 2 (Also Known as Reina Roja) initially looks like a contained new case for Antonia Scott and Jon Gutierrez. Their trip to Marbella puts them in the middle of Lola Moreno’s disappearance, Yuri’s dealings with Russian crime boss Orlov, and the arrival of a mysterious figure known as Black Wolf. Across the six episodes, however, that investigation gradually reconnects with the mystery Antonia has never been able to leave behind: Mr. White.

By the finale, “A Sunrise,” the story has narrowed to a snowbound cabin, but the real payoff is not simply whether Lola escapes Orlov. The episode overturns what Antonia thought she knew about Black Wolf, gives new meaning to the season’s repeated warning that “nothing is what it seems,” and leaves Jon in danger just when he has decided that he wants a life outside the Red Queen project. More importantly, the finale reveals that Mr. White has been playing a much larger game than Antonia realized.

Lola’s Dog Was Really Her Insurance Policy

Lola’s determination to recover her dog, Kot, appears irrational for much of the season. She is hiding from people who desperately want to find her, yet she repeatedly puts herself at risk to get the animal back. Antonia eventually realizes that Lola’s attachment to Kot has a practical reason as well as an emotional one.

The finale reveals that Lola concealed access to the fortune Yuri had been taking from Orlov, along with information capable of exposing people connected to the wider operation. The small device becomes Lola’s real insurance policy. It gives her leverage over people who would otherwise have little reason to let her walk away.

That is why several factions eventually converge on the cabin. Orlov wants what was taken from him, Lola needs the device to protect herself, and the woman everyone has been calling Black Wolf has her own reason for wanting the evidence. The dog storyline was therefore not a diversion. It was the physical thread connecting Lola’s personal desperation to the larger criminal network behind the case.

Black Wolf Was Never Simply Working for Orlov

Antonia spends much of Season 2 trying to understand why Black Wolf behaves so inconsistently. She appears to fit the profile of the legendary operative Antonia learns about, yet she repeatedly acts against Orlov’s interests. She targets people connected to his organization, avoids harming Antonia and Jon when she has opportunities to do so, and later helps Jon when the investigation becomes increasingly dangerous.

The answer begins to emerge through Alexandra, the woman who survived the container. Black Wolf tells Antonia that Alexandra was her girlfriend, transforming what appeared to be a professional assignment into something deeply personal. The container case is not simply another job to her. Her actions against Orlov’s network are driven, at least partly, by what happened to Alexandra and the other women.

That also explains why Antonia eventually works with her during the cabin confrontation. Antonia does not suddenly decide that Black Wolf is trustworthy. She recognizes that, for the moment, they want the same thing. Black Wolf’s anger is directed toward the people behind the operation, making her an ally only for as long as their objectives overlap.

Is Javiera Sky’s Character the Real Black Wolf?

The finale’s most important reveal comes after the apparent resolution of the Marbella case. Antonia contacts the hospital to ask about Alexandra and learns something that immediately unsettles her. The surviving woman’s name was not actually Alexandra, and someone identified as her boyfriend had already dealt with her belongings.

Red Queen Season 22

Antonia then returns to another unresolved detail: the unidentified woman’s body discovered earlier. She asks Aguado to compare it with Heimdal’s records because she has finally understood what happened. The body they found belonged to the real Black Wolf. The woman Antonia and Jon spent the season identifying by that name had been using an identity that was never truly hers.

That does not mean every detail Antonia learned about the legendary Black Wolf was false. Instead, she had attached the correct history to the wrong person. Javiera Sky’s character has the training and ability required to make everyone accept the deception, but Season 2 deliberately stops before fully explaining who she actually is.

Her repeated phrase, “nothing is what it seems,” becomes even more significant after the final Mr. White reveal. The finale confirms that she has her own agenda, but it does not conclusively establish that she works for White. Her relationship with Alexandra gives her a personal motive, while her decisions to spare and later help Antonia suggest that her role is more complicated than that of another person simply following White’s orders.

What Happens to Lola, Romero and Belgrano?

The local mystery surrounding Lola also comes together at the cabin. Antonia has already realized that Romero and Belgrano are not the dependable police allies they initially appeared to be. Their involvement reaches back to Yuri and explains why evidence repeatedly vanished or pushed the investigation in convenient directions.

Red Queen Season 24

Lola, meanwhile, is not simply an innocent person caught in someone else’s scheme. She knew considerably more about Yuri’s financial activity than she initially admitted and built an escape plan around the money and information he had accumulated. Her pregnancy influences how Antonia handles the final confrontation, but it does not erase Lola’s choices or the legal consequences waiting for her.

When Black Wolf wants Lola to answer for what happened to the women connected to the container operation, Antonia prevents the situation from becoming an act of revenge. She convinces Black Wolf to take the device instead. That strips Lola of her secret fortune and leverage while leaving her alive to face the consequences of her involvement.

The decision also says a great deal about Antonia. She does not deliver a perfectly clean version of justice. Instead, she chooses an outcome that preserves valuable evidence, prevents further harm, and leaves the surviving characters with a possible path forward.

Why Does Jon Leave Antonia?

The emotional ending between Antonia and Jon is almost as important as the resolution of the case. After everything they survive, Jon tells Antonia that he is finished. He is exhausted by the life they have been living, and watching Antonia repeatedly push herself beyond reasonable limits has become something he no longer wants to endure.

His decision is not framed as anger or betrayal. Jon tells Antonia that he wants an ordinary life beyond the investigations, while Antonia immediately admits that she does not know how to continue without him. Their conversation exposes the imbalance that has gradually developed between them.

Red Queen Season 25

Antonia sees Jon as the one person capable of grounding her, but Jon realizes that being her “squire” has required him to surrender too much of himself. Antonia promises to change, yet Jon does not immediately reverse his decision. The scene works because the series refuses to treat their friendship as an automatic reset button. Jon cares deeply about Antonia, but he also understands that loyalty alone cannot sustain this life indefinitely.

Mr. White Is Real and He Has Been Targeting the Red Queens

Antonia’s final discovery changes the meaning of everything happening beyond Marbella. Throughout the season, Mentor receives reports that other Red Queens across Europe have disappeared, while Antonia remains convinced that Mr. White is not simply an obsession left over from the Fajardo case.

She is finally proven right. After realizing the truth about Black Wolf, Antonia receives a message from a hidden number repeating the phrase “Nothing is what it seems” and signed with a “W.” Mentor then confirms the larger conclusion: Mr. White is real, and the pattern involving the other Red Queens appears to point directly toward him.

The important detail is that White has apparently been operating several layers above the season’s visible antagonists. Orlov, Lola, the corrupt officers, and the false Black Wolf identity occupy Antonia’s attention while White continues manipulating events around the Red Queen project itself.

Season 2 therefore reframes the mystery introduced in the first season. Mr. White is no longer simply a name connected to Sandra and Antonia’s past investigation. He appears to be targeting the Red Queen organization itself, with Antonia becoming an increasingly important part of whatever game he is preparing.

What Happens to Jon in the Final Scene?

The finale leaves Jon’s immediate fate deliberately uncertain. After Mentor warns Antonia that both she and Jon are in serious danger and need to disappear, Antonia tries to reach him. The final moments abruptly shift the focus toward Jon, while Antonia desperately calls his name before the season cuts to black.

The sequence points toward Jon being taken rather than confirming that anything fatal has happened to him. That interpretation also fits the direction of the story heading into the third season, which continues Antonia and Jon’s confrontation with Mr. White.

The more interesting question is therefore not whether Jon remains part of the story, but why White would target him. Jon has just told Antonia that he wants to leave this life, only for White’s actions to seemingly remove that choice almost immediately.

Antonia’s greatest vulnerability has always been the people she cares about. Jon is not simply her partner in the investigation. He is also the person who keeps her connected to ordinary life when her mind threatens to consume everything around her. If Mr. White wants to control Antonia, pressure her, or force her into his next game, Jon is the most effective person he could use.

Season 2 therefore ends exactly where Red Queen has been heading since its first season. The Marbella investigation may be finished, but Antonia finally understands that the person she has been searching for has also been studying her. Mr. White is no longer a distant figure hidden behind other people. He has moved directly onto Antonia’s board, and Jon appears to be his opening move.
