Falling Into Place brings together several familiar Vancouver-based performers for a Hallmark romance about an old friendship getting a second look. The September 2026 movie follows Kaia, a career-focused woman who returns to her hometown of Maplecrest for its fall festival and her high school reunion. Waiting there is James, the childhood best friend with whom she once created a fall bucket list they never completed. As they work their way through those old plans, both begin reconsidering what they want from the next stage of their lives. Alvina August and Nathan Witte lead the cast as Kaia and James, with Stephanie Bennett and Geoff Gustafson playing Harper and Ben.
Alvina August as Kaia
Alvina August plays Kaia, the character at the center of Falling Into Place. Kaia returns to Maplecrest while waiting to hear about an important development at work, and she initially intends to treat the visit as little more than a break from her demanding professional life. Reconnecting with James complicates that plan, particularly when their unfinished childhood bucket list gives them an excuse to spend the week together.
August is already familiar to Hallmark viewers from Deliver by Christmas. Her wider television credits include Nancy Drew, where she played Detective Karen Hart, as well as The Boys, Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, Woke, Siren, The Good Doctor and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. She was born and raised in Zimbabwe before moving to Canada as a teenager and is also a singer.

Kaia is a natural Hallmark role for August because the character’s conflict is relatively grounded. She is not escaping an elaborate scandal or arriving in town with a major secret. Instead, she has become so focused on where her career is going that returning home forces her to notice what she has stopped making time for.
Nathan Witte as James
Nathan Witte stars opposite August as James, Kaia’s childhood best friend. James is the person who reconnects Kaia with the life she had before work began consuming most of her attention. Their old fall bucket list becomes the structure of the week they spend together, but it also gives both characters an opportunity to see how much they have changed since they first wrote it.
Witte was born in Calgary and moved to Vancouver when he was 20 to pursue film and television work. He has accumulated more than 70 screen credits, including appearances in Superman & Lois and leading roles in television movies such as My Best Friend’s Bouquet, Must Love Christmas and Greed: A Seven Deadly Sins Story.

His casting also fits the production neatly because Falling Into Place was filmed around Vancouver, where Witte has spent much of his career. James is written as someone who belongs in Maplecrest rather than someone passing through it, so the performance depends more on easy familiarity with Kaia than on an exaggerated romantic rivalry.
Stephanie Bennett as Harper
Stephanie Bennett plays Harper, one of the key supporting characters in Kaia and James’ hometown circle. Hallmark has officially confirmed Bennett’s character name, although the network’s pre-premiere material has kept the finer details of Harper’s role limited.
Bennett was born and raised in Vancouver and trained in ballet before moving into acting. Her television credits include Travelers, Shadowhunters, Project Blue Book, 21 Thunder and The Romeo Section. Hallmark viewers may also recognize her from The Nine Lives of Christmas and The Last Bridesmaid, while her television-movie work includes Christmas Class Reunion and Love for Starters.

With a movie this focused on returning home, supporting characters matter because they establish that Maplecrest existed before Kaia arrived for the reunion. Harper is part of the community around the central pair rather than an anonymous figure introduced only to move the romance forward.

Geoff Gustafson as Ben
Geoff Gustafson plays Ben, another important member of the Maplecrest ensemble. As with Harper, Hallmark has confirmed Ben’s name while revealing relatively little about his storyline ahead of the premiere. Gustafson’s inclusion gives the movie another actor with a long history in British Columbia productions.
Gustafson has appeared in Hallmark’s The 27-Hour Day and has television credits that include Once Upon a Time, Psych, Bates Motel, Rogue and Primeval: New World. His work frequently moves between comedy and drama, which suits a Hallmark movie where the supporting cast helps keep a gentle hometown romance lively without overwhelming it.
Ben and Harper also broaden the movie beyond Kaia and James’ private nostalgia. A high school reunion and town festival only work dramatically if there is a convincing community around the leads, and both characters contribute to that larger Maplecrest social world.
Who Else Is in the Falling Into Place Cast?
The supporting cast includes B.J. Harrison, Francisca Dennis, Tom McBeath and Jennifer Higgin. All four appear alongside the principal cast, with Francisca Dennis confirmed to play Yasmine. Public pre-premiere sources have not yet reliably identified the character names played by Harrison, McBeath and Higgin, so assigning them specific relationships to Kaia would be premature.
Harrison brings an extensive resume that includes Maid, Yellowjackets, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and numerous Hallmark productions. McBeath is a veteran Vancouver actor best known to many television viewers as Harry Maybourne on Stargate SG-1, with additional work in Riverdale, The X-Files, Travelers and Family Law. Higgin’s credits include Batwoman, The Handmaid’s Tale and the Hallmark movie Cranberry Christmas.

Dennis, meanwhile, has recently appeared in Tracker, Doc and Smoke, in addition to recurring Hallmark mystery work. Her casting as Yasmine is one of the few additional character-role pairings publicly confirmed ahead of broadcast.
A Familiar Ensemble for a Hometown Romance
There is a nice consistency between the people on screen and the place where Falling Into Place was made. August, Witte, Bennett, Gustafson and several of the supporting actors have substantial connections to Vancouver’s film industry, while the movie itself was shot around the Lower Mainland in May and June 2026. The result is an ensemble already comfortable with the kind of intimate television production Hallmark relies on.
At the center, though, the movie belongs to August and Witte. Kaia and James’ relationship is built on years of familiarity rather than an elaborate meet-cute, and the unfinished bucket list gives that old friendship a simple reason to become something more. The supporting cast provides Maplecrest with family, friends and community, but the appeal of Falling Into Place ultimately depends on whether its two leads can make returning to an old friendship feel like discovering something new.
