Big Brother 28 finally handed power to someone willing to disrupt the house’s comfortable structure. In Season 28 Episode 20, which aired August 16, Yash Patel becomes the new Head of Household and nominates Angela Murray, Dee Valladares and Haley Thogmartin for eviction. The nominations are particularly important because Angela and Dee had avoided the block through the opening five weeks, while Haley once again finds herself fighting for survival. Yash’s HOH also creates an immediate complication for Dee, whose BB Bribe fails to convince him to change his plans. By the end of the episode, Week 6 looks much less predictable than the weeks that came before it.
Spoiler Alert
Who wins HOH in Big Brother 28 Episode 20?
Yash wins the Week 6 Head of Household competition, giving him his first HOH reign of the season and putting him in position to decide whether the house would continue targeting relatively exposed players or finally turn toward some of the better-connected competitors.
The timing could hardly be better for him. The previous eviction sent Chuk Anyanwu home by a decisive 9-1 vote, with Haley casting the only vote to keep him. That result left Haley more isolated, but it also removed another player and gave the remaining houseguests fewer places to hide.
Yash does not use his power conservatively. Instead of filling the block entirely with easy nominees, he puts Angela and Dee in genuine danger alongside Haley. The season’s results up to this point show that neither Angela nor Dee had previously been nominated, making their appearance on the Week 6 block a meaningful change in the game’s balance.
Who does Yash nominate for eviction?
Yash’s three nominees are:
- Angela Murray
- Dee Valladares
- Haley Thogmartin
The ceremony immediately puts pressure on several relationships at once. Haley has already spent time in danger and enters the week without the same protection enjoyed by some of the house’s more connected players. Angela, however, is a chaotic presence who can influence a vote even without holding formal power, while Dee has been much more deeply involved in the strategic structure of the season.
That makes this more than a simple three-person nomination. Yash is effectively forcing parts of the house that have previously been able to coexist to reveal how much they are willing to do to protect one another.
Big Brother Network confirmed that Yash had settled on Angela, Dee and Haley before the nomination ceremony and followed through with exactly that combination.

Who is Yash actually targeting: Haley, Angela or Dee?
This is where Yash’s HOH becomes more complicated.
In conversations before the ceremony, Yash told Rick Devens that Haley was his intended target and that Angela would become his preferred eviction if Haley escaped the block. He did not present Dee as the person he most wanted out. Other conversations around the nominations had Angela described as the principal target, showing that the hierarchy was not completely rigid even before the week developed.
That distinction matters because simply looking at the nominees might make Dee appear to be the biggest target. She is strategically connected, possesses a Time Capsule power and has demonstrated that she is willing to actively shape votes. Removing her would be a much more aggressive strike at the house’s power structure.
Yash’s immediate plan, however, appears more focused on breaking up the threats around him while keeping some working relationships intact. He has also shown interest in keeping the men out of danger during his HOH, which considerably narrows the field of possible replacement nominees if the week changes.
The important answer after Episode 20 is therefore that Haley and Angela appear to be in greater immediate danger than Dee, even though Dee may be the most strategically valuable person sitting on the block.
Did Dee’s BB Bribe work on Yash?
No. Dee entered Week 6 with one advantage most nominees would love to have: the BB Bribe, a power she previously received through the Time Capsule twist. Once she learned Yash was considering putting her up, the possibility of using that power became an obvious way to try to avoid nomination.
It did not work.
Dee attempted to bribe Yash, but he rejected the offer and went forward with her nomination. Big Brother Network reported that Dee later told Kamu about the failed attempt, while Yash also discussed rejecting the money with Devens. The power was not automatically eliminated simply because Yash refused it, meaning the failed deal is important without necessarily being the end of Dee’s ability to use the twist.
More importantly, the refusal tells viewers something about Yash’s HOH. He had an opportunity to take a personal benefit in exchange for altering his plan and decided maintaining control of his nominations mattered more.
That makes the move more consequential than simply putting Dee on the block.

What happens to Melody in the BB Time Capsule?
Episode 20 also continues the season’s Time Capsule storyline.
America selects Melody Morris for the fifth round of the Time Capsule, but she loses the challenge and receives the “Lord of the Latrine” punishment. It follows a twist that has already produced a mixture of legitimate powers and deliberately ridiculous punishments, including Devens’ Diamond Veto, Dee’s BB Bribe, Angela’s egg costume and Mallory’s Adam and Eve punishment.
Melody’s result does not reshape Week 6 in the way another major power might have, but it does matter strategically for everyone still waiting to see what the final Time Capsule rounds produce.
With fewer players left in the house, every new advantage has greater potential to interfere with an HOH’s plans.
Why are Yash’s nominations so important?
For much of Big Brother 28, several competitors benefited from other targets attracting attention first. Episode 20 begins stripping away that protection.
Angela and Dee being nominated together forces their allies to consider priorities they previously did not have to state publicly. Saving one person can expose another. Campaigning too aggressively can reveal an alliance. Even doing nothing becomes a choice when three very different players are sitting beside each other.
Yash also takes power at a moment when the game is beginning to divide less cleanly between veterans and newcomers. Personal relationships, temporary voting blocs and competition threats increasingly overlap, which means a seemingly straightforward eviction can change several future HOH plans at once.

That is why Episode 20 feels like a turning point rather than simply another Sunday nomination episode. Yash has not completed the move yet, but he has forced some of the season’s safest players to finally play from an uncomfortable position.

Who is on the block at the end of Big Brother 28 Episode 20?
At the end of the August 16 episode, Angela Murray, Dee Valladares and Haley Thogmartin remain Yash’s three nominees for eviction.
The veto can still change that lineup, and Big Brother’s remaining powers make Week 6 particularly volatile. This recap intentionally stops with what Episode 20 reveals rather than jumping ahead to subsequent live-feed spoilers.

For viewers watching only the CBS episodes, the major takeaway is simple: Yash finally has power, two previously protected players are on the block, Dee could not buy her way out of the nomination, and Week 6 has opened the door to a much larger shake-up.
