Below Deck Mediterranean Season 11 Episode 14 brings another personality onto the already divided Akira One, but newcomer Massi Scarcia quickly realizes that he has walked into more than a normal deckhand job. Nathan Gallagher and Joe Bradley are barely speaking, Kat Johnston is reaching the end of her patience with Gen Lillie, and Cooper Dawson’s secret relationship is becoming harder to keep secret.
Even the police make an appearance during the charter, although that situation turns out to be far less dramatic than the season’s previews suggested. The episode ultimately belongs to Gen, whose problems with Kat, Cooper and Chef Joy all collide before the next charter has even begun.

Massi Scarcia Joins the Akira One
With Max Salvador gone, Nathan heads out to collect his replacement, Massi Scarcia. The Italian deckhand immediately brings a different energy to the exterior team. Massi reveals that he has around 10 years of yachting experience and has previously worked not only as a deckhand, but also as a bosun and captain.
Despite that impressive background, Massi has no interest in taking charge this season. He makes it clear that he wants to work without carrying the responsibility that comes with a senior position.
Joe already suspects Nathan will try to become close with the newcomer, and it does not take long for that fear to become reality. Nathan repeatedly praises Massi while Joe watches, making an already uncomfortable deck situation even worse. Massi, however, seems to notice the tension without showing much interest in choosing a side.
His arrival also creates a new potential romantic complication. Gen quickly decides Massi is not her type, while Massi appears far more interested in Chef Joy.
There is also finally good news from Max. Captain Sandy receives a video from him in Tunisia, where Max is shown with his father. After his sudden departure from the yacht to help his dad, the video confirms that he managed to reach him safely.
Why Did the Police Come to the Below Deck Med Yacht?
The charter itself goes remarkably well. Joy continues impressing the guests with her food, while a DJ is brought aboard for a late-night party. Then sirens approach the Akira One.
The police arrival has been heavily teased throughout Season 11, making it seem as though the crew could be facing a serious problem. The real explanation is much simpler. The music continued beyond the local 11 p.m. restriction, prompting officers to visit the yacht.
Massi wakes Captain Sandy, who speaks with the officers and promises that it will not happen again. Instead of issuing a serious penalty, the police let the yacht off with a warning. The guests remain happy with their charter and leave a $26,000 tip.
Joe Helps Kayley Through an Emotional Day
Away from the crew arguments, Episode 14 gives Joe and Kayley Smith one of their most meaningful moments together. The day falls on the anniversary of the death of Kayley’s younger brother, Ewan. Being away from her family makes the occasion particularly difficult, and Joe quietly arranges something special for her.
He brings Kayley to the sun deck with flowers, candles and a glass of wine. Together they remember Ewan, with Joe raising a toast in his honor. It is a softer side of Joe than viewers usually see, and Kayley is visibly moved by the effort. Their relationship becomes even closer later that night when the pair spend the night together. Unfortunately, almost every other relationship on the yacht is heading in the opposite direction.

Gen’s Flirting With Cooper Finally Pushes Kat Too Far
Kat and Cooper are still secretly seeing each other, although they are doing a terrible job of hiding it. Aesha suspects what is happening and eventually gets Cooper to admit the truth. Gen remains either unaware of the relationship or unwilling to recognize how close Kat and Cooper still are.
She openly tells Kat about touching Cooper while flirting with him and later continues pursuing his attention during the crew night out. At dinner, Gen repeatedly comments on Cooper’s body and takes the flirting far enough that even the rest of the table becomes uncomfortable. Kat is particularly frustrated because Cooper does very little to shut it down.
When Gen leaves the table, Kat confronts him. Cooper admits that he struggles to say no, but that answer only makes the situation worse. Kat eventually becomes emotional over the way he is allowing Gen to behave around him. The problem is bigger than Cooper, though.
Kat has also become frustrated with Gen professionally. Gen’s wrist continues bothering her, but she refuses to wear the brace consistently. When she is asked to vacuum, she passes the job to Kat because of the pain. For Kat, the combination of doing extra work and watching Gen openly flirt with Cooper becomes too much.
Kat Finally Confronts Gen
The confrontation comes back on the yacht when Gen asks Kat why things feel strange between them. Kat does not avoid the conversation. She tells Gen that she is tired of feeling disrespected and explains that both her behavior around Cooper and the work situation have become problems.
Gen argues that Kat and Kayley have become cliquey, but she has little response to Kat’s specific complaints. She apologizes, although the conversation ends without repairing their friendship. It leaves Gen increasingly isolated from the rest of the interior team. That loneliness becomes important during the final moments of the episode.
Nathan Gives Joe a Six-Hour Overnight Shift
Meanwhile, Nathan and Joe find a new way to continue their feud without having another direct argument. Nathan restructures the overnight anchor watch. Instead of splitting the night into shorter rotations, he creates one six-hour shift and assigns Joe the midnight-to-6 a.m. slot.
Nathan presents the change as a practical solution that will stop crew members from repeatedly waking up. Joe sees something else entirely. He believes Nathan is deliberately creating a schedule that allows them to avoid each other while giving Joe the worst shift.
Massi’s arrival has therefore done nothing to solve the exterior team’s problems. If anything, his presence gives Nathan and Joe another person to pull into their conflict.
Who Sent Joy the Flowers at the End of Episode 14?
Just before the next charter begins, a flower delivery arrives for Chef Joy. The card does not contain a name, but the wording makes the sender fairly obvious. It refers to Joy as “ma reine,” the same French nickname Luke Brumer has been using while continuing to text her after leaving the yacht.
Joy quickly realizes the flowers are from Luke. The awkward part is that Gen is the person standing there holding the flowers when everyone figures it out. Luke’s feelings for Joy were already a major source of tension earlier in the season because he became involved with Gen before admitting that Joy was the woman he really wanted. Gen and Luke ended their situation, but Episode 14 makes it clear that watching him continue pursuing Joy still affects her.
Coming immediately after her fight with Kat, her problems with Cooper and her growing feeling that she does not belong with the interior team, the flowers become one humiliation too many. Gen walks away and declares that she is done with the charter season and wants to go home.
Whether she actually follows through is another matter, but Episode 14 leaves her in her lowest position of the season so far. Massi may have joined the Akira One as its newest crew member, but by the end of Getting Ciggy With It, the bigger question is whether Gen still wants to be there at all.
