“Naked & Afraid” is an American reality series broadcasted on the Discovery Channel. Each installment delves into the journey of two strangers who meet in the wilderness, completely nude, and are tasked with surviving for 21 days. With only one essential item each, like a machete or a fire starter, the duo must construct shelter, find sustenance, and endure the elements.
The 15th season premiered on February 19, 2023, airing on both Discovery and Discovery+.
In each episode, the narrative unfolds as the couples embark on their adventure. Equipped with cross-body satchels containing a personal diary/camera and a map, they rely on their primitive instincts to navigate the challenges ahead. While a camera crew documents their journey, they intervene only in dire medical emergencies. Throughout the ordeal, survivalists can opt out at any time, but those who persevere must reach the designated extraction point on the final day to be retrieved.
“Naked & Afraid” also tracks participants’ Primitive Survival Rating (PSR) based on their survival skills, experience, and mental fortitude. Viewers receive regular updates on vital statistics, including time, temperature, and the number of days elapsed. Additionally, the show reveals before-and-after weight measurements, highlighting the physical toll of their wilderness ordeal.
