Minerva Academy Season 1 Full Recap: What Happens in All 8 Episodes?

Netflix’s Minerva Academy follows a new group of students entering an elite military high school in Naples, where academic life is mixed with fencing, physical training, strict hierarchies and traditions that have survived for generations. Salvo Fusco, Vincenzo Cipriani and Camilla Savino arrive with completely different expectations, but each soon discovers that Minerva has a way of forcing students to confront the lives other people have planned for them. Running beneath those coming-of-age stories is Salvo’s private investigation into the disappearance of his best friend Francesco Russo, a former Minerva student who vanished without giving Salvo an explanation. The Italian series contains eight episodes and was released globally on Netflix on September 22, 2026.

Episode 1: Salvo Enters Minerva Looking for Francesco

Episode 1 introduces the recruits during Minerva’s demanding entrance period. Vincenzo arrives determined to continue his family’s military tradition, while Camilla sees the academy as a punishment imposed by her wealthy father. Salvo has another motive entirely: Francesco, the older boy he grew up with in a foster home, attended Minerva before suddenly disappearing, and Salvo becomes suspicious as soon as school officials insist Francesco simply left without warning.

The recruits immediately encounter Minerva’s rigid hierarchy, with senior cadets controlling much of their daily life. Salvo hears conflicting stories about Francesco and begins noticing that Commander Achille Giordano is unusually interested in what he knows. An old message from Francesco also gives Salvo an important clue because Francesco had previously talked enthusiastically about school and mentioned becoming close to the commander’s son, Diego.

Episode 2: Salvo Becomes Class Leader

Episode 2 pushes the first-years through a physical circuit they must complete if they want weekend leave. Vincenzo struggles badly during the training and nearly gets into serious trouble during an exercise in the water, while Camilla’s fear of heights makes one section particularly difficult for her. Salvo ultimately records the best time and is made class leader, giving him more status within the first-year group.

His new position also gives him more opportunities to investigate Francesco. Salvo discovers that Francesco had regularly been seen with another Minerva student, strengthening his suspicion that the older cadets know more than they admit. At the same time, the first real friendship begins forming among Salvo, Vincenzo and Camilla despite their constant arguments and very different backgrounds.

Episode 3: The Stolen Test Exposes Minerva’s Traditions

Episode 3 begins with a stolen test from Professor Laura Canali’s class, and the school responds by cancelling leave until someone confesses. The senior students decide to enforce their own version of discipline and lock Salvo in an old underground room known as “the hole” because he is class leader. Vincenzo eventually takes responsibility for stealing the test, and Canali prevents his expulsion, although he loses his leave privileges.

The incident creates the first major clash among Canali, Vice Commander Teresa Bonaiuto and Commander Giordano over how much power tradition should have inside the school. Rachele also experiences a frightening episode in which she temporarily cannot see, although she tries to hide the problem because of her ambitions. Salvo, meanwhile, learns that Max Midolo has connections outside Minerva that may link him to Francesco and Salvo’s own family.

Episode 4: The First Leave Creates New Secrets

Episode 4 takes many of the students outside Minerva for their first real leave. Camilla’s birthday becomes a party at her grandparents’ house in Posillipo, but the celebration also highlights how little attention she receives from her parents. Diego and Camilla grow closer despite the school’s ban on relationships between senior cadets and recruits, creating a secret that will later cost both of them.

Salvo’s leave is less carefree because his mother pulls him into an illegal errand involving pills that eventually have to be hidden back at school. The situation complicates his investigation because he begins realizing that Francesco had connections to the same world. Rachele separately seeks medical help for her recurring vision problems, but fear of losing her military future makes her reluctant to be fully honest about how serious they have become.

Episode 5: Vincenzo Loses His Father

Episode 5 changes Vincenzo’s story when his father dies after an illness. His friends refuse to let him face the funeral alone and leave the fencing event to support him, forcing even Minerva’s most committed competitors to decide whether loyalty matters more than school tradition. Vincenzo returns unsure whether he still wants the military future he once associated so strongly with his father.

Rachele later wins an important fencing match despite continuing to struggle with her health. Salvo’s investigation also moves forward after he tells Paola Giordano about Francesco and learns that Max had known him better than he admitted. The episode closes another secret in on Diego when his relationship with Camilla becomes public, leading the commander to sanction both students and remove Diego’s leadership rank.

Episode 6: Salvo Learns About Francesco and Diego

Episode 6 finally gives Salvo a clearer picture of Francesco’s life before his disappearance. Max admits that Francesco had carried illegal pills for Salvo’s mother because he desperately wanted acceptance from the older cadets. More importantly, Salvo discovers that Francesco and Diego were genuinely close, supported by photographs and a book belonging to Francesco that is still in Diego’s locker.

Rachele’s medical storyline also becomes clearer when she learns that her temporary blindness is linked to psychological stress rather than an eye disease. She fears treatment will prevent her from entering the military academy she has spent years preparing for. The episode ends with the most important clue yet when a video emerges containing Francesco’s personal declaration of love to Diego.

Episode 7: Commander Giordano’s Cover-Up Is Exposed

Episode 7 reveals that the video is connected to Francesco’s public humiliation. Salvo becomes convinced Diego and Max know what happened and openly accuses them during the traditional Mak P celebration. After another attempt to intimidate Salvo goes too far, Bonaiuto investigates, and Max eventually agrees to provide information about what the senior cadets have been doing.

The larger revelation comes from Commander Giordano himself. He admits to Diego that he hid Francesco’s love letter, created disciplinary reports that made Francesco appear unsuited to Minerva and discouraged people from discussing the disappearance. Bonaiuto prepares a formal report on Minerva, while Diego finally admits that he has spent months fearing Francesco may have harmed himself because of the humiliation.

Episode 8: Francesco Returns

Episode 8 initially looks as though Minerva will bury the scandal again. Diego is removed from school and treated as the obvious person responsible, while Commander Giordano remains powerful enough that the institution avoids examining its own role too closely. Diego finally tells Paola what happened with Francesco and admits that he actually liked him, but panicked when he thought other students might discover their connection.

The biggest surprise comes when Francesco appears in Minerva’s library and reunites with Salvo. He explains that he left voluntarily because he could not face anyone after Diego humiliated him, and he was too ashamed even to tell Salvo the truth. Later, when Diego confronts his father during a dangerous emotional crisis, Francesco helps calm him and offers forgiveness rather than revenge.

The season closes with the mystery solved but Minerva largely intact. Camilla insists she will choose her own future rather than automatically following her father’s plans, Vincenzo is forced to question whether his military ambition truly belongs to him, and Rachele has to reconsider what success means in light of her health. Salvo finally has Francesco back, but his first year has also taught him that the truth Minerva tries hardest to hide is often less about one person and more about the culture surrounding them.
