Love Island Season 5 is the fifth season of an American dating reality show based on the British series Love Island. CBS announced and commissioned the series on August 8, 2018. It debuted on CBS on July 9, 2019. For the first three seasons, Arielle Vandenberg hosted the show; Sarah Hyland took over as host beginning with the fourth season.
Peacock took up the series for its fourth and five seasons in February 2022. The fourth season is set in California and debuted on July 19, 2022. The fifth season will debut in 2023.
Love Island features a group of participants known as Islanders who live in a villa, isolated from the outside world and continuously monitored by video cameras. The Islanders must be paired up with another Islander to survive in the villa, whether for love, friendship, or survival since the ultimate winning couple earns $100,000. The Islanders pair up for the first time based on initial impressions on the first day, but during the course of the series, they are forced to “re-couple,” where they may choose (or are selected) to stay in their present partnership or switch and change.
Anyone who remains unmarried after the pairing is removed and “dumped” off the island. During the series, Islanders might potentially be ousted via popular vote. Through the Love Island app, which is accessible on cell phones, the public may vote for their favorite pair or who they believe is the most suitable. Couples with the fewest votes are in danger of being removed. Twists may develop when the islanders must eliminate one another. During the final week, the audience votes to choose which pair should win the series and get the reward.
Each Islander has their own phone and can only communicate with other Islanders through text – or get messages telling them of the newest challenges, dumping, or re-coupling. Islanders and couples are often required to participate in a variety of games and tasks meant to test their physical and mental talents, with the victors getting unique awards.
