Let’s Marry Harry begins with an intentionally ridiculous premise: Harry Jowsey meets 20 potential fiancées and is expected to finish the experiment with a wife. By the finale, however, his choice comes down to two relationships that work for very different reasons. Dannelle Davidson offers Harry an easy, affectionate connection that develops early, while Amber Mozo is a slower and less predictable relationship that becomes increasingly important as the season progresses. Harry ultimately chooses Amber because he says her confidence, honesty, calm energy and free spirit made him feel differently about his future. He has also revealed that a deeply personal series of “signs” connected to his late father helped convince him that Amber was the woman he should choose.
The result leaves Dannelle blindsided because she had every reason to believe her steadier relationship with Harry would win. Harry’s own comments make clear that the decision was close, but Amber represented something he increasingly felt he needed rather than simply the relationship that had been easiest from the beginning.
Dannelle Was the Safer Relationship
Dannelle’s connection with Harry is strong almost immediately. Netflix describes their relationship as easy and steady, built around private jokes and even a secret ring exchange. Unlike contestants who aggressively compete for Harry’s time, Dannelle largely trusts the strength of their connection and reaches the finale believing that Harry will choose her.
Harry also speaks warmly about her. In the finale, he describes Dannelle’s tenderness and sweetness as qualities he loves, and there is no indication that the breakup happens because of a dramatic betrayal or sudden incompatibility. Instead, Harry tells her that he has fallen in love with her but started second-guessing the relationship during the final week.
That is why Dannelle’s rejection lands so hard.
She does not lose because their relationship fails. Harry simply becomes more convinced by another one.
Amber’s Relationship With Harry Changed More Dramatically
Amber does not begin as Harry’s obvious bride. Netflix describes their connection as a slow burn, with Amber’s blunt personality initially both intimidating and exciting him. Over time, the unpredictability becomes part of the attraction because Harry starts associating Amber with a calmer and more grounded version of himself.
By the finale, Harry specifically praises Amber’s confidence, the way she thinks about the world and the sense of steadiness he feels around her. Amber’s directness also means that their relationship contains fewer guessing games once they begin trusting one another, even though she nearly self-eliminates during Harry’s messy connection with Juliana.
Harry later told People that he loved Amber’s free spirit and consistently found their time together “incredible.” Those are not descriptions of a contestant who simply wins because another relationship collapses. They show Harry increasingly imagining Amber as compatible with the kind of life he wants after the show.

The Bees Connected Amber to Harry’s Late Father
The most personal factor in Harry’s choice involves his father, who died in December 2024 after a terminal illness. Harry has said that his father’s death helped push him toward wanting marriage and a family, turning Let’s Marry Harry into something more emotionally serious for him than his earlier dating-show appearances.
Before his father died, Harry associated bees with him because the two had kept bees together. During filming, Harry began treating unexpected bee sightings as a sign that he was moving in the right direction. He recalls asking his father for guidance and then seeing bee imagery, but the strongest moment comes while he is with Amber.
A bee appears while Harry and Amber are having breakfast high above the ground on a penthouse balcony. Harry interprets the unlikely appearance as reassurance from his father, later saying that he had not experienced the same sign around another contestant. He even wonders in a confessional whether the bee represents his father’s choice for his future wife.
That does not mean Harry chose Amber solely because of a bee.
It means the sign reinforced a decision he was already emotionally moving toward.
Why Didn’t Harry Choose Dannelle?
The strongest explanation is that Dannelle represented safety while Amber represented change. Harry clearly cares for both women, but his final comments focus on the way Amber affects his emotional state and challenges the version of himself audiences already know from Too Hot to Handle and Perfect Match.
Dannelle believed Harry’s decision not to marry her meant he was probably not ready for marriage at all. She was therefore stunned to discover that Amber’s family was heading toward the wedding while she remained at the hotel. Netflix confirms that Dannelle had been confident enough in her connection that she struggled to imagine another outcome.
From Harry’s perspective, however, choosing the easier relationship was not necessarily the same thing as choosing the right relationship.
Amber had become the person around whom he felt most convinced that his life could look different.
Did Harry Make the Right Choice?
The show cannot answer that yet. Harry and Amber exchange vows in the finale, but Netflix is deliberately holding their current relationship status for the reunion on August 26.
There is also an important complication surrounding the wedding itself. Subsequent reporting says the ceremony shown on television was not legally binding, reportedly because production wanted to avoid public marriage records spoiling the winner before the finale aired. That does not erase Harry’s choice, but it does mean the long-term commitment shown on screen is still waiting for a real-world status update.
For the purpose of the finale, though, Harry’s reasoning is unusually clear. Dannelle gave him affection, security and one of his strongest early relationships. Amber gave him those things more slowly, while also becoming linked to grief, family and the person Harry says he wants to become.
When he finally had to choose, Harry trusted the relationship that felt like a new direction.
And, according to him, a few very well-timed bees helped.
