Gran Hermano VIP 8 (Spain): Wiki, Cast, and Trivia

Gran Hermano VIP 8 marks the return of the reality television series, premiering on September 14, 2023, on Telecinco.

After much speculation surrounding the series’ potential comeback, Telecinco initially announced the new season of GH VIP in June 2021, with plans for a later debut in the same year. However, in July 2021, Mediaset España shifted gears, postponing the series to air sometime in 2022. Ultimately, GH VIP 8 was replaced by the Spanish adaptation of Secret Story during the 2021-2022 season.

On June 15, 2023, Telecinco officially confirmed the return of Gran Hermano VIP for September 2023, with Marta Flich stepping in as the new host, replacing Jorge Javier Vázquez. Ion Aramendi was announced to take over hosting duties for the weekly debate show.

This season follows the longest hiatus in the Spanish adaptation’s history, prompted by a sexual assault incident during the last civilian series in 2017. The resulting backlash led to significant changes, including the implementation of stricter protocols for handling such situations.

The premiere night welcomed 17 housemates, with figure skater Javier Fernández announced to join at a later date. However, in a surprising twist during the first Debate on Day 4, Pedro García Aguado was revealed as “a mole” rather than a genuine contestant. Javier Fernández entered the house on Day 8, during the second Gala. ((Wikipedia))
