“Time Trap” is a gripping 2017 science fiction action-adventure film directed by Ben Foster and Mark Dennis. With a cast including Brianne Howey, Cassidy Gifford, Olivia Draguicevich, Reiley McClendon, and Andrew Wilson, the movie follows the journey of a group of students in a remote area of Texas searching for their missing professor. Their quest leads them to a mysterious cave, where they encounter bizarre and dangerous events involving time and space distortion.

Plot Summary:

Hopper, an archaeology professor, ventures into a remote cave system in search of missing hippies from the 1970s. Upon discovering a cowboy seemingly frozen in time within the cave, he returns to town and dismisses his graduate students, Taylor and Jackie, declaring their research complete.

Days pass without Hopper’s return, prompting Taylor and Jackie, accompanied by their friends Cara, Veeves, and Furby, to search for him. Following Hopper’s trail to a campsite near the cave, they find an entrance with climbing ropes leading inside. Despite Furby staying behind as backup, they decide to explore the cave. Strange noises unsettle them as they descend, and Jackie’s attempt to climb back out ends in disaster when the rope frays, causing her to fall and injure herself along with Taylor. Desperate for help, they receive a transmission from inside the cave and pursue it.

At a different junction within the cave, they come across another opening where they find Furby dead, his neck broken. Reviewing his video recordings, they learn that several days passed from Furby’s perspective while only an hour passed in the cave. Furby’s investigation of the hippies’ belongings revealed they were Hopper’s parents, who were searching for their missing daughter, Hopper’s sister. Believing the cave system to be linked to the Fountain of Youth legend, Furby discovered another cave opening. Attempting to retrieve keys for a vehicle, he tragically fell when his rope gave way.
