Joe Bradley spends much of Below Deck Mediterranean Season 11 Episode 15 feeling as though Captain Sandy Yawn has finally recognized his value. She challenges Nathan Gallagher’s treatment of him, gives Joe more responsibility, and refuses to let their personal feud determine how the deck team is managed.
Then the charter takes a frightening turn. Joe is involved in two questionable water-safety situations in the same day, with the second ending in a guest suffering a painful shoulder injury, creating an obvious question about whether his job aboard Akira One could now be in danger.

Does Joe Bradley Get Fired After the Guest Injury?
As of the end of Episode 15, Joe Bradley has not been fired from Below Deck Med. The episode ends during the medical emergency involving charter guest Michelle, before Captain Sandy has the opportunity to investigate the accident or announce any consequences for Joe.
There is also no official announcement currently saying that Sandy fires or demotes Joe because of the incident. Episode 16 continues the medical-emergency storyline, meaning viewers still need to see what Sandy learns before there can be a definitive answer about Joe’s professional consequences.
That does not mean Joe is necessarily safe. Guest safety is one of the most serious responsibilities aboard a charter yacht, and Episode 15 gives Sandy more than one reason to question how Joe handled activities in the water.
Why Was Captain Sandy Defending Joe Before the Accident?
For most of Episode 15, Sandy actually believes Nathan is the bigger problem. She notices that Nathan appears to be allowing his deteriorating relationship with Joe to influence his decisions as bosun.
Nathan’s plan to assign Joe a six-hour midnight-to-6 a.m. anchor watch particularly concerns her. Sandy worries Joe could become exhausted enough to fall asleep during watch and tells Nathan to return to the previous schedule rather than using the shift as a way to minimize their contact.
She also praises Joe’s work and gives him opportunities to demonstrate more responsibility. Joe interprets Sandy’s attention as proof that she trusts him more than Nathan wants to admit, which makes what happens later in the charter especially damaging.

What Did Joe Do During the Swimming Incident?
The first warning comes when several guests want to swim back toward Akira One from a cave excursion. Joe intends to follow them on a seabob while Massi accompanies the swimmers in the tender, but the guests begin swimming before the deck team is properly ready.
By the time Joe and Massi understand what has happened, the swimmers are already far into an area with passing boats. Sandy sends Nathan on a Jet Ski to help protect and retrieve them, while Nathan later criticizes Joe’s handling of the activity.
Massi admits that he also shares some responsibility because he did not stop the guests. Nathan, however, focuses primarily on Joe, which allows Joe to dismiss some of the criticism as another extension of their personal feud. That becomes much harder to do after the next accident.
What Happened During Joe’s Tubing Run?
The guests later decide to go tubing, with Kat and Cooper joining the group to balance the inflatable. Joe controls the towing vessel, and the ride eventually becomes fast enough that the tube flips over.
Most of the riders surface without a serious problem, but Michelle immediately appears to have badly injured her shoulder. The crew fears it has come out of place, and Joe calls for medical assistance while the episode ends without resolving her condition.
The accident does not automatically prove negligence by Joe, and Episode 15 does not conduct any formal investigation into what caused Michelle’s injury. However, the person operating the tow naturally becomes part of any discussion about how safely the activity was handled.
Could Captain Sandy Fire Joe for a Safety Mistake?
Captain Sandy has repeatedly shown across Below Deck Med that serious safety failures can threaten a crew member’s position. Whether she believes Joe’s actions rise to that level will depend on what she determines happened during the tubing accident.
One factor could work against Joe: the incident follows directly after Sandy had been defending him. She had challenged Nathan for allowing personal feelings to affect his judgment, which means Sandy will now need to judge Joe’s performance independently of the feud between the two men.
Joe has also been open throughout Season 11 about wanting to move further into leadership. Bravo’s own Season 11 material has emphasized his ambition and his increasingly hostile competition with Nathan.

A guest injury is therefore more than another mistake for Joe. It tests whether he has the judgment needed for the senior positions he wants.
What Happens to Joe Next?
The immediate aftermath has not aired yet. Episode 16 is titled The Babysitter’s Club, and its published synopsis says the crew must handle a medical emergency, clearly carrying the unresolved situation from Episode 15 into the next hour.
Until that episode airs, claims that Joe is definitely fired would be speculation. The stronger conclusion for now is that his job and leadership ambitions are under more pressure than they were at the beginning of Episode 15.
The episode deliberately creates that reversal. Sandy begins the charter defending Joe against what she sees as Nathan’s unfair management, but Joe ends it waiting to learn how serious a guest’s injury may be after an activity he was operating.
