Apple has long praised the greater pixel density for its ability to show real Retina-quality content at a sensible size, even if 27-inch 5K panels are still somewhat uncommon. Samsung’s ViewFinity S9 will have a 5120 x 2880 display, the same as the Studio Display and Apple’s last 27-inch iMac, and its broad color gamut will cover 99% of the DCI-P3 spectrum while HDR600 compatibility enhances shadows and highlights.

The ViewFinity S9 comes with a 4K SlimFit camera, USB-C/Thunderbolt 4 connection, and a matte surface to reduce glare.

Although the price has not yet been disclosed, it will debut “early” this year.

A new 27-inch size is joining the 32-inch option available on Samsung’s well-liked Smart Monitor M8. Both sizes have 4K resolution, come in four different colors, and can be tilted and raised.

Many of the featured applications on the display, including Samsung’s SmartThings Hub for controlling connected home devices and Smart Hub for specialized apps like Prime Video, Netflix, and YouTube, have enhanced mouse functionality in addition to an updated 2K SlimFit camera.
