Below Deck Mediterranean Season 11 reaches its final charter in Episode 17, Money Can Buy Me Love, but Captain Sandy Yawn’s crew is nowhere near finished with its personal problems. Joe Bradley and Nathan Gallagher try one more time to find peace, Kat Johnston begins accepting what Cooper Dawson’s behavior has been telling her for weeks, and Gen Lillie suddenly appears determined to become a completely different crew member.

For a while, the reset actually works. Then Luke Brumer calls from Dubrovnik with a secret plan involving Chef Joy Lefaucheur, putting Gen’s newfound calm in immediate danger just before the season finale.

Joe and Nathan Try to End Their Feud

Episode 17 begins by finishing the uncomfortable van argument involving Joe, Nathan and Gael Cameron. The discussion goes nowhere because the same disagreement that has followed Joe and Nathan for much of the season remains unresolved. Nathan and Gael believe Joe has been disrespectful, while Joe continues insisting that he has not said anything about their family that deserves this level of anger.

Aesha later offers Nathan a simple explanation for why Joe has struggled so much with Gael. In her view, Gael effectively broke up the old bromance between Nathan and Joe, and Joe has never completely adjusted to losing the friendship he once had.

That idea becomes more convincing when Joe’s relationship with Cooper is considered. Joe has become extremely close with Cooper while his friendship with Nathan has deteriorated, and Cooper now appears much more interested in spending time with Joe than building something serious with Kat.

Captain Sandy eventually tells the exterior team that she is done watching personal baggage interfere with work. With only one charter remaining, she wants Nathan and Joe to finish professionally and leave the feud behind.

Joe makes a genuine attempt. He pulls Nathan aside and admits that he misses their friendship, while also saying he understands that Nathan’s life has changed and that Gael and their family now come first.

Nathan listens, but he does not seem convinced that Joe’s change of heart is genuine. The two men shake hands and agree to get through the final charter, while Nathan later tells Gael that he and Joe have effectively agreed they will not work together again.

Kat Realizes Cooper Is Showing Too Many Red Flags

While Joe attempts to repair one relationship, Kat is beginning to accept that hers with Cooper may already be ending.

Their interactions have become noticeably colder. Kat describes Cooper as someone waving obvious red flags, but she still hopes they can somehow finish their time together positively.

The biggest issue remains what happens after filming. Kat had imagined spending time with Cooper after the season, but Cooper has repeatedly found ways to make those plans feel less romantic. His decision to include Joe in their Dubrovnik plans was already disappointing, and Episode 17 makes it increasingly obvious that the two are not approaching their relationship with the same expectations.

Kat even makes a pros-and-cons list while talking with a friend. She still cares about Cooper, but the exercise forces her to acknowledge how much effort she has spent trying to make sense of someone who rarely gives her the reassurance she wants.

Cooper becomes visibly uncomfortable when Kat discusses visiting him later in Florida. By this point, their awkward interactions are saying almost as much as their conversations.

Gen Lillie Introduces the Crew to “New Gen”

Gen enters the final charter determined to change the way she has been behaving. After weeks of tension with Kat, Joy, Luke and other members of the interior team, she begins making an effort to put her ego aside and become easier to work with.

Her most surprising moment comes with Joy. Gen tells the chef that she considers her one of the best chefs she has worked with and says Joy has shown her how to handle difficult situations with more grace.

Joy is understandably suspicious because the compliment comes only days after Gen deliberately mixed her uniforms with kitchen rags. Still, Gen continues the new attitude while working with Kayley and admits that one of her biggest lessons from the season has been learning to become a better team player.

The guests respond well to her, too. Aesha notices that they love Gen’s energy and finally gives her some of the praise she had wanted earlier in the season.

For the first time in several episodes, Gen appears to be ending the season on a genuinely positive note. The problem is that the person most capable of undoing that progress is already heading back toward the crew.

Tristan Schukraft Brings an Unusual Final Charter

The final primary guest is entrepreneur Tristan Schukraft, who arrives with his fiance Melvin Alexander, five other boyfriends and friend Cory. Bravo introduces Tristan as a billionaire, but the crew quickly becomes less interested in his finances than in understanding how his large polyamorous family works.

The guests arrive with another challenge for Chef Joy: they want large amounts of protein while keeping carbohydrates and sugar low. Joy initially underestimates just how much food a group of dedicated gym-goers can consume.

Her first dinner includes several chicken dishes, but the guests still feel as though the meal is closer to lunch than a full dinner. Their late-night sandwiches do not have enough chicken either, and breakfast creates another round of questions about protein and carbs.

Joy eventually adjusts. She speaks directly with the guests, learns what they actually want and secures more chicken before the next dinner, allowing the final charter to settle into a much better rhythm.

Another Charter Guest Needs Medical Attention

After Michelle’s broken shoulder on the previous charter, Akira One somehow finds itself dealing with another guest injury.

During an afternoon in the water, Joe dives in and hits his head on a rock, although he escapes with only a minor cut. Later, guest Vitor becomes excited while heading toward the yacht’s inflatable slide and hits his head against part of the boat.

The impact leaves a cut on his forehead, bringing the medic back to Akira One for the second charter in a row. Fortunately, Vitor’s injury does not appear to become anything like Michelle’s medical emergency, and the charter is able to continue.

Massi Scarcia jokes that the consecutive incidents are beginning to give him Final Destination vibes. With this being the last charter, the crew can at least hope the strange run of accidents ends with Vitor.

Massi Still Likes Joy, but Luke Has Her Attention

Massi’s interest in Joy continues during the final charter. He enjoys working around her and remains clearly attracted to the chef, but Joy does not seem ready to turn the crush into another boatmance.

Luke is still regularly messaging her from outside the yacht. His texts remain flirtatious and supportive, and Joy clearly enjoys hearing from him despite everything that happened before his departure.

That leaves Massi in an awkward position. He may physically be aboard Akira One with Joy, but Luke still occupies far more space in her romantic storyline.

The situation changes dramatically at the end of Episode 17 when Luke calls Joe. He reveals that he is back in Dubrovnik and wants to surprise Joy during the crew’s final night out. Joe agrees to keep the secret and promises to tell Luke where the group will be going.

Luke’s Return Could Destroy Gen’s Fresh Start

Luke returning should be good news for Joy, but Joe immediately recognizes that the surprise could create another problem with Gen. The timing could not be worse. Gen has spent the final charter apologizing, helping Joy, getting along with the interior team and trying to prove that she has learned something from the season.

Luke’s presence brings her directly back to the relationship triangle that contributed heavily to her earlier breakdown. Gen had already become furious when Luke sent Joy flowers, even though she repeatedly insisted she was finished with him. Episode 17 therefore ends with two very different versions of Gen hanging in the balance. “New Gen” has finally started rebuilding her relationships, but Luke is now in Dubrovnik and preparing to surprise Joy in person.

Bravo’s finale preview makes it clear that the reunion will not remain peaceful for long. Joy is thrilled to see Luke again, while Gen’s reaction suggests her short-lived fresh start may face its biggest test on the final crew night out. Money Can Buy Me Love spends much of its runtime trying to give Season 11’s fractured relationships some closure. Instead, Luke’s phone call ensures the crew heads into the finale with one last round of unfinished business.
