Why Was Jarrette Jones Eliminated From Ready to Love? His Love Is Blind Return Ends Early

Jarrette Jones walked into Ready to Love Season 12 carrying something most of the Chicago cast did not have: viewers already knew part of his dating history. He appeared on Love Is Blind Season 2, married Iyanna McNeely after their connection in the pods, and later went through a divorce. His arrival on another relationship series therefore immediately created a second-chance storyline before the mixer had really begun.

Ready to Love, however, gives Jarrette far less time to establish himself than Love Is Blind did. Rather than developing a relationship through extended private conversations, he has one mixer to persuade several women that there is substance behind his personality. By the end of the premiere, the same quality that makes him noticeable also becomes the reason his journey ends.

Jarrette’s humor becomes the problem

Jarrette openly describes himself as goofy, and his playful personality is evident almost every time the episode returns to him. Initially, that gives his conversations energy. The issue is that some of the women begin to feel he never switches out of that mode long enough for them to understand who he really is.

His exchange with Brandi becomes the clearest example. Jarrette gives joking answers to straightforward questions about his life and work, and Brandi initially plays along. Eventually, however, she tells him that constantly joking makes it difficult to know when he is actually telling her something real.

Jarrette married Iyanna

That distinction matters on Ready to Love because the first mixer is essentially an accelerated compatibility test. Being entertaining can open a conversation, but contestants still need to communicate values, intentions and personality quickly enough for someone else to see romantic potential.

Multiple women give Tommy the same feedback

Jarrette might have survived if Brandi were the only person bothered by the jokes, but the women’s group discussion shows that the concern is broader. Bryana identifies him as one of her weaker first impressions and says she wants him to be more direct and secure in an actual conversation.

Kiara reaches a similar conclusion. She remembers their brief interaction primarily as joking and laughing rather than a meaningful exchange. There is nothing especially hostile in the feedback, but that is precisely what hurts Jarrette: the women do not describe a bad connection so much as an absence of one.

When Tommy calls Jarrette forward with Marcus and Champ, he summarizes the problem by telling him that the women think he jokes too much and want to see a more serious side.

Why is Jarrette eliminated instead of Marcus?

Marcus is also vulnerable after the women complain that he talks too much about his accomplishments. Champ faces comparable criticism because some of his conversations feel more like interviews than natural romantic exchanges.

Tommy ultimately saves Marcus and sends both Jarrette and Champ home. The decision suggests that Marcus has shown enough potential elsewhere to earn another opportunity, while Jarrette and Champ have not created strong enough connections to overcome the concerns raised during deliberation.

Jarrette takes the result with disappointment but without arguing against it. He acknowledges that he may not be everyone’s preferred personality and says that he still believes the right partner is somewhere out there.

His Love Is Blind past did not cause the elimination

Jarrette’s previous television relationship naturally hangs over his Ready to Love appearance, but Episode 1 does not present it as the reason the women reject him. He even discusses his past openly, explaining that he was married after Love Is Blind Season 2, that the relationship did not work out, and that he is now looking for love again.

Jarrette and Iyanna McNeely married after meeting through Love Is Blind’s Chicago season. They publicly announced their separation in August 2022, and their divorce was finalized later that year. His appearance on Ready to Love therefore marks a return to televised dating several years after that marriage ended.

None of the premiere’s elimination feedback centers on whether Jarrette should have joined another reality show or whether his previous marriage made him a risky match. The women focus on what is happening directly in front of them: they want more sincerity and less deflection through humor.

Ready to Love required a different version of Jarrette

There is an interesting contrast between Jarrette’s two dating shows. Love Is Blind gives contestants time to connect through long conversations before physical attraction enters the equation. Ready to Love begins with face-to-face chemistry and requires people to make several impressions in a crowded social environment almost immediately.

Jarrette arrives prepared to be memorable, but he does not show enough range before the women have to vote. His jokes make him visible, yet visibility is not the same thing as intimacy.

That is why his elimination works as more than an unexpected reality TV crossover ending. Ready to Love gives Jarrette a second televised chance at romance, but it also asks him to demonstrate quickly that there is a serious person behind the entertainer. On the first night, the women simply do not see enough of that side.
