One of the most uncomfortable moments in OJ Unseen: Exploitation of Evil has little to do with the hidden-camera pranks that brought O.J. Simpson back in front of a television crew. During the making of Juiced, Simpson’s longtime girlfriend Christie Prody appears on set, and members of the production remember noticing bruises on her arms. What might have looked like an isolated detail at the time carries considerably more weight in retrospect, particularly because Prody would later make serious allegations about her relationship with Simpson.

The documentary has brought Prody’s name back into public discussion after years largely outside the national spotlight. That renewed attention has also coincided with a new legal development in North Dakota.

Christie Prody Was With O.J. Simpson for More Than a Decade

Prody began dating Simpson after his 1995 acquittal in the criminal trial over the deaths of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. She was still a teenager when the relationship began, and the couple remained together on and off for roughly 13 years. By the late 1990s and 2000s, Prody was regularly described in news coverage as one of the closest people in Simpson’s post-trial life.

She accompanied him through years of intense public scrutiny and was present during important moments in his later legal troubles. ABC News reported that Prody traveled with Simpson following his 2007 Las Vegas arrest and remained visibly supportive during court proceedings. Their relationship ultimately ended around the period when Simpson was sent to prison in Nevada.

By 2009, Prody was describing the relationship very differently. She told Good Morning America that she had feared for her life and alleged that Simpson had physically and emotionally abused her. She also said she had tried to leave him several times.

Simpson was acquitted of the 1994 murders in criminal court. A civil jury later found him liable in connection with the deaths of Brown Simpson and Goldman.

What Does OJ Unseen Show About Christie Prody?

OJ Unseen returns to Prody through footage and recollections from the Juiced production. Crew member Luc Nicknair recalls seeing what appeared to be finger-shaped bruises across her bare arms while she was on set. The documentary juxtaposes that memory with later coverage of Prody’s allegations against Simpson.

The archival material is complicated because Prody did not accuse Simpson of causing those particular bruises while Juiced was being filmed. In footage shown by the documentary, she discusses bruising easily and says Simpson had never hit her. Several years later, however, her public account of the relationship changed substantially, and she alleged a broader history of violence and threats.

That distinction matters. OJ Unseen does not establish who caused the specific marks noticed by crew members. Instead, the sequence gains significance because of what Prody herself later said about the relationship.

In her 2009 interviews, Prody alleged that Simpson hit her and threatened her when she attempted to leave. She also said she eventually came to believe he had killed Brown Simpson and Goldman, though Simpson had always maintained his innocence in the murders.

What Happened to Christie Prody After O.J. Simpson?

After her relationship with Simpson ended, Prody’s life became much less visible nationally, although she continued to make occasional headlines. In 2013, she entered an Alford plea to a robbery charge in Cass County, North Dakota, connected to an attempted purse theft at a shopping mall. She received probation and a suspended prison sentence.

Her 2009 interviews remained the main reason her name continued to surface in documentaries and retrospectives about Simpson. Unlike several other figures from his orbit, Prody did not build a sustained media career around her connection to him.

OJ Unseen changes that somewhat by placing her directly inside the story of Juiced. Her appearance is no longer simply background footage of Simpson’s girlfriend at the time. The documentary treats what crew members observed around her as one of the moments when the production’s joking tone began to feel much darker.

Simpson died from cancer in April 2024 at age 76. Prody has not become a regular public commentator on his legacy in the years since their relationship ended.

Where Is Christie Prody Now?

The most recent public development involving Prody came on September 10, 2026, when she was arrested in North Dakota. Reports citing Cass County Jail officials say she was booked on three drug-related allegations, including possession of methamphetamine, possession of another controlled substance described as a depressant, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. West Fargo police reportedly made the arrest.

Authorities had not publicly released much information about the circumstances leading to the arrest when the news emerged. The charges are allegations, and there has been no reported conviction in this new case. For that reason, the arrest should not be presented as a determination of guilt.

The timing has inevitably brought renewed interest to Prody because OJ Unseen premiered only days earlier. The documentary had already resurfaced footage from one of the most scrutinized periods of her life, and the new arrest placed her name back in entertainment and crime coverage almost immediately afterward.

For viewers discovering Prody through the documentary, her story extends well beyond the brief Juiced footage. She spent more than a decade with Simpson, publicly defended him during much of that period and later described the relationship as abusive. OJ Unseen revisits the moment before those allegations became public, when members of a television crew were beginning to question what they were witnessing around them.
